revisiting

P1010061d

Do you ever go through your old photos and realize that you like things the way they had been?

P1010064d

I sure do!

I putter around the house now and then and move things from cabinet to cabinet or shelf to shelf. Pictures remind me of how things had been before, especially since becoming a blogger. I definitely take more photos than ever before and save them in folders. When I revisit them I often times ask myself why I sold something or moved it around.

Do you do this?

Tell me I am not alone on this one!

It's worse when you move around a lot - then you have photos of how you had things arranged in a variety of houses. Missing the house AND the arrangement is a double-whammy!

I still mourn for a large stained glass window I sold some years ago that I displayed above my kitchen cabinets. I had purchased it very cheap... kicking myself now.

I have taken all the pictures down from the back bedrooms and have them lined on the floor in the hall.. I am moving them to different spots and rooms. I am a mover and a shaker hahaahhah Drives my sweet husband crazy! I need to learn to take pictures...... BUT most of all my pretty things are still in a storage unit... They have been there 8 years now...... I need to find time in my life to get them home.... but I am waiting on just the right "old" china cabinet....

Love your pictures..... Your home speaks of peace...

I wish I were a 'mover and shaker'. My Mother was always moving the furniture around, but I never do. And it takes me about 3 or 4 years to finally decide where to put things.

You are not alone. I can think of things I gave away, sold or threw away over the years and ask myself why?

No Becky, you're not alone...I often change things and then wonder why. Your home looks "sweet and dreamy". Happy Day! Joy

Morning, Dear One! I love your pretty photos and yes, you're not alone! I've just recently changed out the dishes in my little china cabinet in my breakfast room. I thought I liked it and then someone commented and said they really liked my before picture. I went back and looked and I agreed! :)
But we're women and we can change our tiny minds, can't we?
Have a wonderful day.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Oh YES!! and I too look at old pics and think OH! I forgot about that.. Now WHERE IS THAT???? I often move things around from room to room. It's fun to putter, fluff, feather, and change the scenery. Loved your little post and I LOVE that little shelf. So cute! As always - enjoyed visiting with you. Hugs from NC.

I love all your vintage things and how you have displayed them. There is nothing prettier than an old quilt lovingly folded in the bottom of a glass door cabinet.

Everything is so lovely. And, yes I am always changing things around and adding to.

Hi Becky, You really have some adorable treasures! I do the same thing, love to move things around, it's almost as much fun as buying new things! I hope you have a wonderful day!

I don't do that, but I really WANT to do that! My problem is that I never sell anything. And it's getting deep around here -- I need to take your lead and clean out some stuff. But I'm afraid I'll say the same thing that you do and wish I'd saved whatever I sell! Oh, the gridlock!

You are absolutely NOT alone on this one, sugar. You just made me cry thinking about how things used to be. Truly. I am definitely a sentimentalist, definitely.

Hi Becky!
Yes I have said the same thing to myself. I think its just our nature to change this around and to re-decorate. Or when we get into our "Clean Out" mood.
I love, love your new blog look and the titles are great and fun to see whats in them to read. I really need to spend some time working on mine, now if I could only find some time, there just hasn't been enough time in a day lately for me.
Big hugs and love,
Elizabeth

Oh you are not alone Becky!
Right now I am looking at old garden photos. And I am in love with some wonderful flower combinations in pots. Inside the house, it happens, too.

I can see why you still love the way items are used in your "old" pictures.

I'm sure that you're not alone, but I do not personally do this. I love your photos and how you arrange things. I love the banners that you create because they are so bright and cheerful. Well, guess I just love visiting you!

I wish I could say I do... but I don't have neat things like you! Until we move into a an actual house, I don't want to collect to much and then risk them getting broken with a move.

SO I will continue to admire all of your great things!

Becky~ I know what you are saying
about moving things around. I do
the same thing and then when I see
an old photo I think "Why did I
move that,that looked good." Funny
huh. I love all of your stuff. Because of you I bought a Scottie
dog planter like the one in your
last photo. I love it. No matter
where you move your stuff it will
still look good and I could never
sell anything, boy I would be a
lousy salesman.LOL":O)

Well, isn't this a timely post as I sit here looking at the piles I've created in my studio room, trying to de-clutter, and having just looked at the photos I took of this room before it had so much stuff in it makes me want to move everything out and start fresh, but that seems like way too much work!!! I have discovered that taking photos of a room or certain areas really help me 'see' it better... at least what I don't like about it anyway!

So, I must get back to work and tackle some of this stuff. (Or go out for a frappacino in order to procrastinate even further....)

I love moving things around. I get so many ideas from your blog. I have quit getting rid of treasures though, I just neatly pack them away. Hope your summer is going well,

I actually think I tend to over decorate.... SO sometimes I will look at a photo of a room from when we first moved in and think.... "Oh!
That looked nice!"

It's hard to stop sometimes...

Haha yes! That's why I finally learned while I like many things things I see in magazines and lovely blogs I resist changing my entire look. It's just been the last couple of years that I've decided I don't want to change everything every couple of weeks. Here I was afraid I was just getting lazy. Your post hit it on the head I FINALLY don't feel like I need to change everything all the time. I like it this way all warm and cozy.
Your brought up a good point!
Best,
Kathy
Great post.

I sometimes do look through my photos and decide I like how my house looked, but I also realize there was a reason I moved on. I need change!

You know me. Once I put something in it's place, it stays there - forever! My big thing is I think my house looks hunky dory. Then I go to a special friend's house or my sister's house and doubt sets in. I'm stopping myself right here. This sounds like a great idea for a post.....

Know what...I don't do that at all. What I find is that I don't even remember the room looking like that! lol I guess when I move on I really move on! Or else old age is really creeping up on me.....

I don't move things around that often. In fact, I don't move things around often enough. I also don't get rid of things. This creates a problem because I have to get creative to find ways to display, utilize and "justify" what I own. I get too sentimentally attached to things. My Mom, however, rearranges things constantly, so maybe I am living a delayed (very long delayed) adolescence. So ... when I get bored, I'll come visit you to see what you have changed. If you get frustrated by your need to change things, come visit me. Things will probably look as they did last time!!

Love,

Ahhh good post my friend. YES! I have been through quite the changes and I am finally getting back to "my" style whether it is "in" or not I don't care anymore. I like what I like and if it makes me happy thats all that matters. The heck with what they decorating magazines or HGTV says you should do. If I don't like it, I will never be happy.

I finally realize that I have my own unique style and if anybody else doesn't like it, it's okay cuz they don't live here, I do!

Now...aren't you glad you asked...LOL.

Oh yes, I do move things about, put them a way for a while and then miss their sweet presence and drag them back out to savor once more in a new spot! They are like old friends who you are happy to see again....

I love your new look over here Becky! I heart the music too! I seem to move quite a bit... so moving things around is part of the process; I think if I stayed in one place that I would be inclined to change it up a bit... do mini makeovers and little vignettes/especially if I had the cute collections you have!

Oh I do this too, Becky. I think in my new smaller place it many not be so easy though...perhaps that will be a good thing...haha. I am sure I will somehow find a way! Glad to be back to visit....I see you have made some changes...looking good!

While sometimes you can't go back and recreate a room the way it was, having a picture of it helps remind you of the amazing possibilities every day has to offer! We have a Photo Folder filled with Linneman House rooms as they have evolved, changed and transformed over the last twelve years...it's fun to see how it has changed...right along side how we are changing! I absolutely LOVE reading your blog. You truly are a blessed woman. Thank you for sharing such amazing insight, inspiration and authenticity with the world....you're making it a better place!
