Learning

Little Fiona Face is quickly learning who THE TOP DOG is of the household.

Yes....you have it right, Mr. Duhgall P. (P is for Piper, however Patience is appro-P-ate). She is quite the smart girl...see her hiding under the chair?

"Neener.....Neener.....Neener....big brother!" Duhgall patiently waits until she darts out and then the race is on!
Scotties love to chase one another. We call it "scottie games."
Fiona is easily distracted and goes for my scottie socks!
Not the toes!! Not the toes!! Ouch!!
This little chase was the result of Duhgall protecting Miss Socks. You see, that is HIS kitty and he doesn't want feisty Fiona to romp on her. Fiona has been the recipient of a few of Socks' whap-whaps! Nothing like a quick paw action to deflect a nasty little puppy's attempt at playful mauling (or "paw"ling). Hey, how do you like that little pen in my foyer? Classy, huh? NOT! The things we do for our pets....
A little rest is needed after a whirlwind run through the house.

Doogs says, "MOM! Look at pesky Fiona! This is MY chair!! Get her OFF of me!!"

Duhgall is a loving and kind hearted lad and decided to just take the higher place on the chair and allow little sister to share his spot.

"Thank you," says FiFi, "You are a gooooood big brother!!"

Have a sweet week!

Oh Becky thank you for the pictures! Doogs is so cute teaching little Miss Fiona the ropes. We all know though that Socks is the real boss. LOL

I so love your dogs ... and wish we could get a playmate for Maizie ... she has a wandering dog that comes to the fence about everyday ... we let him in, but he's really dirty and unkempt ... but Maizie begs till we let him in ... she literally rolls him in the grass, coming at him top speed. He looks like either a Shih Tzu or a Llaso Apso ... we call him "Mr. Shitz" ;)

Becky,

You need a little doggie dictionary for all your terms! I got a little confused but certainly understand that we all have our ways to communicate with our pets! LOL!! :-)

My Milo was very territorial when we got Layla. He was very indifferent but after awhile found her to be good company, a little playmate, and a warm, furry body to cuddle next to. He does however, still believe he is the King!

Of course you & your family will always be in my prayers. I am hoping that your new little Fiona is a sweet distraction once in awhile from your pain.

xoxo

How sweet and I love the doggie yard in the foyer. Those are the things that make a home...a home and not a residence that looks like it just got staged for a sale. The pups are too cute.

Becky, Your photos of Doogs and Fiona always make me smile. What a joy they are. My Maggie has been slapped a time or two by the neighbors cat , Petie because she gets a little too rambunctious for him, but it doesn't stop her from doing the same thing the next time he comes over. Have a wonderful day.

We are all thinking about how much Fiona reminds us of Maddie from Lilly's last litter.

Scottie games are the best - almost as good as snuggling with our peeps!!

Becky -
Your sweet Doogs and Fiona are simply adorable! What fun they must be. I just started a blog of my own and I really have you to thank. Your's was the first I stumbled upon. (So thankful that I did) I was oblivious to the blog world and can't imagine living without it now. There is so many talented women with beautiful spaces, great decorating ideas, wonderful tips, where was I...asleep?? LOL. I so enjoyed your beautiful blog and while exploring discovered other blogs and was totally hooked. I'm still trying to work out the kinks, but would love it if you could stop by, if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Hi Becky,
Aren't they just like children so playful and sweet and they need us to watch out for them. I'm still wanting a dog but I have to wait until I can be home more, my travel to and from work just keep me away to long to have a pet, so I will enjoy your sweet little guys for now.
Take care,
Elizabeth

Being a scottie dog owner, your tales make me laugh out loud!! Miss Fiona is just too cute and growing so quickly!
Mr D is just like mine, even down to sitting on the cushion of the chairs to get that little bit taller!! Does he stamp on them to get them under himself?? Cracks me up each time mine does it!
They are the most amazing dogs, and I would have a dozen if I could.
With much love, and giggles,
Emma xx

I love the action shots. What a hoot they are. Mine are the same way. Always going after the cat, the toy, the treat or each other. We just sit back, cook the popcorn and watch the show. :)

Of course, you have a pen in your foyer. My son and his wife have two in their bedroom! I, on the other hand, have two dog beds in my living room, two in my bedroom and one in the family room. Why not two in there, you may ask? Because one of the dogs likes to lay on the sofa!

I'm also one of those people who has cat baskets tied to all the radiators in my house (old Edwardian) so the kitties can snuggle into them to cook and percolate when the heat kicks on!

I also have a basket full of dog toys in my foyer and a hook by the back door, not to hang my jacket, but for dog leashes. I just bet you have more tell-tale signs than just a crate in the foyer that announce to guests you are a dog-mom.

What a perfect post! I surely d have a smile on my face now!
We have some of these shenanighans here at Rabbit Run Cottage too! Not Scottie fun of course but Kip chasing Henry, chasing Lucy, Lucy swatting Henry and running to Kip for protection...
Yor fur babies are too preocious for words. Kip sends doggie smocches to them both AND your sweet cat! Kip is a BIG fan of cats!

Good morning Becky :)

They are soooo cute. I have a classy dog gate too... oh and a classy makeshift bench in the pantry for them to sleep on, made up of one leather ottoman and two chairs with ratty blankets. It's normal for dogs to have their own blankets and not be able to sleep without them right? LOL
