Being Barefoot

This sweet little photo below is of my mother and her siblings.
These were simple times.
Basic needs: Shelter, clothing and food on the table.
For play time you found something to entertain yourself, such as a twig
to draw with in the dirt.
Though the times were tough back then, you always had your family and their love.
My mother is the sweet little girl with pigtails and holding her little brother. Her little sister is on the left.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Becky, at Just Bee'n Me blog is hosting a Way Back When-sday
that is to be Easter related.
I don't have any such Easter photos, however this photo of my barefoot Mother, Aunt and Baby Uncle made me think of Jesus. By this I mean of how Jesus walked barefoot through the streets and carried the cross on his back from which he would be crucified on. Those were not simple times, not for Jesus. He died for all of us and loves us so much.
Whenever I run around barefoot and complain about my feet hurting from the hot pavement, I think of our Jesus.
Thank you, Jesus!!
Note: I love this song as I have been like an unwinding cable car.
The chorus is:
this is the correlation of salvation and love.
(dont drop your arms)dont drop your arms.
i'll guard your heart.
with quite words i'll lead you in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

.....Jesus is my salvation and pulls me through my darkest of days.....

Oh my gosh how I wish I had pictures of me & my family when we were young. I only have a few scant memories. I know that to this day I still go barefoot anytime I can. I don't like shoes or socks unless i'm in the house and my feet are unusually cold. I wear flip flops or slide on's if I must. All summer long into fall.

I love your homage to Jesus without shoes and you are very aware of such little things that make a huge difference in how we view our troubles! You have a wonderful spirit within you.

Very nice. I too will now think of that when I step on hot pavement without shoes on. Thanks for reminding me.

This is the sweetest picture.. Always enjoy stopping by yours.. Very touching.. We lift you in prayer always.. We have a 23yr. old son, who is a police officer, and I can only imagine your pain, Thank God, you know Jesus, and know our only comfort and peace in this life comes through him..I want you to know that our Pastor Greg Laurie lost his oldest son 8 months. ago.. You should visit his blog at greglaurieblog.com..He shares sooo openly of their loss, BUT, also knows his son lives and visits with Jesus daily..What a comforting thought that is.. See, people you don't even know keep you and yours in prayer.. God is good.. Blessings to you for a blessed Easter, and know He died on that old rugged cross, that we all might join our loved ones again in our heavenly perfect home.. hugs and love to you ~tea~

Aww how cute! All little blondies and your mom looks so happy to be holding her little brother.

Whenever I'm struggling with anything, I do what you do and think about Jesus. Thank you for the reminder...

That's right! All we need are the basics of this earth, but we certainly need God to get us to our heavenly home!
Your picture would look so cute if you tinted it just a tad with pastel...
love it!

That's a beautifully sweet post, Becky. One of my favorite verses is about Jesus' feet:
"How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace;
And brings good news of happiness; Who announces salvation;
And announces to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

The photo of your mother and aunt is wonderful. It looks like they are having a very fun sisterly chat together.

Love you,
Lallee
