Sitting Still

Feeee....where are you going?

"To find me a place to soak up this wonderful sun!", says Fiona.
"Is that ok, Momma?"

Yes...yes my dear.

~~~
My Bible Study friends recently gifted me with a copy of Streams In The Desert. It is a daily Journal filled with thoughts, quotations and spirtual inspiration.
My friend Wave asked me if I was going to make any New Years resolutions. I told her no because I don't really do that sort of thing but I did tell her that this year I would like to focus more on doing things for our family and our home. Kind of slow down a bit if you will.
Jordan passed away on Feb. 4th and the message from Streams In The Desert for Feb. 5th is as follows.
Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still!
Nor deem these days - these waiting days - as ill!
The One who loves thee best, who plans thy way,
Hath not forgotten thy great need today!
And, if He waits, 'tis sure He waits to prove
To thee, His tender child, His heart's deep love.
Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still!
Thou longest much to know thy dear Lord's will!
While anxious thoughts would almost steal their way
Corrodingly within, because of His delay --
Persuade thyself in simple faith to rest
That He, who knows and loves, will do the best.
Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still!
Nor move one step, not even one, until
His way hath opened. Then, ah then, how sweet!
How glad thy heart, and then how swift thy feet
Thy inner being then, ah then, how strong!
And waiting days not counted then too long.
Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still!
What highter service could'st thou for Him fill?
'Tis hard! ah yes! But choicest things must cost!
For lack of losing all how much is lost!
'Tis hard, 'tis true! But then - He giveth grace
To count the hardest spot the sweetest place.
J. Danson Smith
addendum: Yes, sweet Chas, Psalms 46:10.
Thank you, as this is what Christ tells us to do, too.
wow... that is devine inspiration. You must have gotten chills when you read that. I got chills reading it now. I hope you are finding comfort in the memories and knowing one day you will be reunited with your 'baby boy'. They always are aren't they?
Fiona.... you and my bugzy should have a cyber play date. He too loves to sun bathe. I keep telling him about skin cancer and aging but he wants none of it. He seeks out the sun!
Love the critters.
one of my accountability sisters gave "streams" to me and we all use it in our walks...isn't it amazing how it reaches you? It is one of my favorites.
Little Miss Fi was getting her quiet time too, sitting in His light of the day, soaking Him in!
Becky, your little Fiona is a dear little doggie, just as loveable as can be! And, as for the poem, I think it so beautiful! I, too, have tried to take my focus straight to the home this year and with the times we're living, it's just not a bad thing to do. I am so glad you have a Bible study group, they can be such a source of encouragement and support! ((HUGS))
That was wondeful Becky. Things that I need to remember also when times get hard. I'm going to print that off and hang it in my studio.
Fiona, how precious! I did that myself the other day. Maybe not on the steps, but I found a patch of sun shining in the living room. I grabbed my Bible and sat down. It was so warm and wonderful.
It is amazing how God has everything planned for us, even in our lowest points. I am thankful for Him everyday. I would never be as wonderful and thoughtful as He is. Or plan as well. I am glad that you found comfort in that beautiful poem. It is always wonderful to know that He never forgets us.
Becky, What moving words. It is so hard sometimes to just sit still and accept God's will. So often we want god's will but in our time not his. Peace and blessings for you dear Becky.
Fiona is just too sweet and so precious.
Sometimes It's Good said...
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is sit still and wait. God's timing is perfect but it's so hard to be patient. Once I read that God's answers to prayer are "yes, no and I have something better in mind for you." It's hard to wait for the best when all we want to do is settle. We can't even imagine how wonderful it will be when we are reunited with the ones we love in such a fabulous place.
Oh Becky, that was amazing!! I love it when the reading is just for me that very day. I have a new devotional called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young, it is life changing. If you get a chance, pick it up. You are on my heart constantly! Jackson sends hugs to Dugs and Fiona.
Hi Becky. I agree with Chasity. And I must tell you too, I cannot wait to see my dad again. I just cannot wait. Every nite in my prayers I ask Jesus to tell dad how much I miss him and how much I love him. And, every night I think my dad is visiting with so many wonderful people in heaven. THAT, my dear friend, makes me feel wonderful inside!!!
I have just found your blog and I was smiling looking at your delightful scotties.
Then I read alittle further and I felt such sadness reading about the loss of your son.
I do not know what I can say but there is a person in Australia thinking about you and your family and I send my love and prayers.
Oh, what great advise. Just to sit still. We can't hear what He is trying to tell us if we are constantly moving. Sitting still is hard. It takes faith and determination. But the reward is peace of mind and the capability to hear His whispers.
Fiona: Can you get any cuter!?! There is a wisdom in those eyes of yours....
I think it was Christmas 2007...Robin Roberts of Good Morning America was sharing that one of her most treasured possessions is her grandmother's copy of Streams in the Desert. She reads from it daily. And on this particular Christmas, she gave each of her co-hosts a copy as a gift. I got my own copy the next day. And it seems that each daily devotion is appropriate for the events of that day. I hope it warms your heart on a regular basis...as I'm certain that sweet Feee does.
DEAR BEAUTIFUL BECKY,
THAT WAS AWESOME...I CRIED AND CRIED BUT I LIVE ON THE EDGE EVERY DAY NEVER KNOWING IF TODAY WILL BE THE DAY WE LOOSE AMY AND I GIVE HER BACK TO GOD AND THEN I TAKE HER BACK....THEN HE SAYS, "BE STILL AND KNOW I AM GOD"
I AM JUST GOING TO BE BEAUTIFULLY HONEST.....WHEN AMY WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER AS A LITTLE GIRL....PEOPLE WITH HEALTHY CHILDREN AND PERFECT LIVES WOULD TELL ME...I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.....THEY DID NOT....THEY COULD NOT BEGIN TO KNOW...THEY HAD PERFECTLY HEALTHY CHILDREN.....AND SO THE ONLY ONES THAT COULD MINISTER TO ME TRULY...WERE THE PARENTS THAT WORE THE EARNED BADGE OF COURAGE OF WATCHING THEIR CHILD SCREAM IN PAIN, PUKE THEIR GUTS UP, ENDLESS BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS....THEY KNEW HOW I FELT.........SO I DON'T BELONG OR WEAR THE BADGE THAT YOU EARNED OF BURYING YOUR MOST BELOVED SON AND MY HEART JUST ACHES AT THE PAIN I KNOW YOU MUST BE FEELING.......BUT I KNOW I CHERISH EVERY DAY AS I MYSELF COULD BE CALLED HOME TOMORROW. I WOULD GLADLY GO IN MY DAUGHTER'S PLACE TO BE IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD 24/7 AND SUCH PEOPLE TO TALK TOO...MOSES, NOAH, MARY, AND ALL OF OUR RELATIVES.
I AM PRAYING FOR YOU TO HAVE COMFORT SWEET LADY AND TO MEET THE PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP YOU THE MOST....GOD HAS ENTRUSTED YOU WITH A BIG JOB BUT HE KNEW BECKY WOULD NOT FAIL.
BLESSINGS
LOVE
