Good Morning…..

….sweetness and light.

Good morning, sweetness and light…….. A friend’s mother used to say this to me when I

would come over to visit. Back then I thought it to be an odd thing to say, sweetness and light. Being 19 and kind of goofy and all, it was a sentiment that I really did not understand until later. In all honesty, those words made me feel rather awkward when she said it. I cannot explain why. Maybe I was just use to hearing, “Hey, chickie” or “What’s a happening?” from my friends.

The words from a much wiser woman, who I thought to be rather “old” at her young age of 47, were graceful and sincere - gentle and kind.

Looking back now, it was her way of showing me affection through words. Now I get it and no longer does it make me feel awkward. So I say it to you,

“Good morning, dear friends, who bring sweetness and light to my days! God Bless each and every one of YOU!”
