Cottage Florals

P1010030o

One of my favorite corners of our home is the wall of old floral pictures. Recently I found the top piece, that of which is a vintage oil painting, for $15.00 at an estate sale. It is just what I was looking for in order to complete the grouping on the wall. Needless to say, I was doing a little happy dance when I found it!

The flowers are a mix of yellow, orange, pink, green and red and blend nicely with the colors in the old wool blankets that are draped over an antique ammo basket.

Florals are carried through with the red needlepoint bench that sits below.

Years ago I found this Victorian pillow on eBay and fell in love with the little cottage in the woods. Though it has a wintry theme to it, it sits out all year long. I believe I put in the search words: Victorian Motto and the pillow popped up! So happy it did - and for only $75.00. They sell for triple that in antique and specialty shops.

You may recall that I shared with you about the little embroidered piece above (Dogs Should Be On Sofas) – you can read about it HERE.

Miss Fiona reminds me each and every day that “dogs should be on sofas.” I am looking for new sofas that would go nicely with the floral pictures, however the choice of fabrics will need to be conducive to having dogs on the sofas. Perhaps something in a tweed with a durable fabric…and definitely NOT a loose pillow back. Right Fiona?

Would You Like Some Wheaties?

lynn's pups 4-18-11

I just HAD to share with you this MOST ADORABLE bunch of Wheaten Scottish Terrier pups! Aren’t they just the cutest little group? Lynn, over at Rocky Creek Scottish Terrier blog, gave me the okie-dokie to share them with you. If you don’t know Lynn and would like to read more about her puppies, please click HERE. Lynn is a wonderful breeder and goes to great lengths to nurture the puppies – and Momma Carrleigh – and provides them with lots of love and a tons of clean sheets to sleep on. I hear that all but one puppy has been spoken for already! (Actually, I am not a bit surprised!)

Congrats to Carrleigh and Piper, momma and poppa, for a job well done!

As for my two Scottie kids, they are busy helping me out in the garden. Duhgall chases off the flying rats (pigeons) as Fiona observes him from a distance. She is a bit timid when Duhgall goes into bird-dog Doogie mode as he barks, bounces and huffs about. For the most part, Duhgall rarely barks at all, so when he does bark he is strictly ALL business.

So for now, we bid you farewell and send you wishes for a Happy and blessed Easter.

Got Bread?

P1010010

Yes, the package of Stonewall Kitchen's Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread still waits on the counter. Little chickadees, if you stare at it long enough, maybe it will bake itself! Orrrr….you could make it for me! Shhhah! …like that will happen….!

Have any of you tried Stonewall Kitchen products? They are wonderful! My favorites are the jams and jellies. Just so tasty and the packaging is pretty neat, too.

Bread.

It’s a good thing!

And speaking of bread, everyone have their taxes turned in? Now the second question is: Got Bread?

I am taking a small break here for some much needed spring cleaning. I am beginning to feel like a sleep with a dust rag in my hand.

More Girl Talk….

P1010002

And it goes like this:

“Mom, can I start dating? When can I go on walks without supervision? And while we are at it, can I use your hair color? How about a tattoo?”

** sigh **
