Top Shelf and Smiles x Two!

This award was given to me by the very sweet and lovely Kathleen Grace. Kathy, you must have known that I was having a rough week and this award really perked my day up! Thank you so very much for making me smile! I know that we have to pass this along to 10 other people who make us smile and geez, that is so hard to do. All of you make me smile and I find myself laughing outloud when reading your blogs, comments to me and even comments that you have left for others. Sooooo, with this, I am bestowing this award to ALL of you who make me smile! Speaking of smiles, I just had to share this cartoon with y'all. I am laughing here in my chair as I am writing this and looking at this old geezer! I hope that this will cheer you up if you have had a hard day or a tedious week.

Now about the aqua goodies in the first photo. When I was about 13 my family took a trip to see family back in Arkansas. Whilst there we visited my Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins - some of which had two names (talk about hard enough to remember one, but goodness sakes, give me two...Billy Ray, Johnny Ray, Bobby Joe, Inna Mae...you get the drift...). For the first time I met my great Aunt Hestaline, who was bed ridden due to having severe arthritis. She was a sweet white haired woman who was very soft spoken with a gentle spirit. Whilst in her bed, she made the prettiest beaded baskets and jewelry. Ever since then, I always think of her whenever I find these vintage beaded baskets. I found one on eBay and one in an antique store. I just love them and they remind me of my sweet Aunt. ~~ Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Be safe and enjoy life!!

What pretty pieces Becky! Two names...LOL. Okay, I'll admit it. In Arkansas I'm better known as Dena Marie, and yes it's all one word.

Hugs,
Dena

This is so nice that you find these beaded treasures that so remind you of your aunt. I too have a gentle and sweet little old white haired lady in my life. It was my grandmother and she was magic! She too was ridden with arthritis and heart problems. I think she gave me so much love it made her heart weak. :) She was always sitting and crocheting. I never remember seeing her walk without a walker but I know we have photos of her holding me as a baby when she still could stand without assistance. I cared for her for many years when I was young and never saw it as anything but a priviledge to do so! Thanks for letting me reminisce with you.

Dear Becky, I am wishing you a happier week and I hope your father is improving. Your blog always makes me smile. Even through your hard week you brought me smiles. Thank you!

I think I can do all the things that old man can do at once, too. Is that a good thing?

Careful about double names now. I used to be called by both names ;-) Love, love your beaded baskets! You have the best collections ever.

Hugs,
Lallee (in recovery from wedding weekend)
