An Antique Sampler

This wonderful antique sampler was purchased years ago for fifty cents. My mother went to a garage sale and bought me a baggie of DMC floss and some thread. Inside, all neatly folded, was this sampler. Because my mother is so honest and kind, she drove back to the sale and tried to give the sampler back. She thought it probably held some sentimental value at least. To her amazement, the people told her to keep it.

Mom took it home and framed it in a brass frame - indicative of 1970's product availability and style. I spent a lot of time studying the piece and wondered who Elizabeth Edwards was. Where was the 13 year old girl from? How long did it take her to complete her stitching sampler?

Elizabeth's work is a cherished piece now in my home. My mother gave it to me several years ago because she knew I would love it and take care of it. I found a Victorian frame to have it displayed in and think they compliment each other nicely. Thank you, Elizabeth..........and thank you, Mom!

Talented girl for only 13. What a nice piece to display in your home. The love she put into it is surrounded by the love in your home. I'm sure she'd be thrilled it found a proper owner!

Love,
Julie

What a wonderful mother you have! So honest and sweet.
By the way, I have many frames like that- and I'm inspired to put something in them that will speak to my soul- someone's art work or someone's "creed" cross stitched lovingly and by faith.
