Time Worn

P1010144

Call me crazy, but in the midst of all that is going on around with doing some remodeling of our house, I’ve stretched my wings out at the antique mall that I sell at.  I’ve been thinking about having a space to group all of the rusty, time worn and farmhouse style items all together.  When merchandising, I like to group similar items together for more impact.  It just looks better, I think.

Old galvanized buckets and tubs, wire baskets, wood packing crates and smaller decorative items can now all be found in my “farmhouse” section.  Though I am still tweaking it, I am quite pleased with the space so far.

Below is an antique wash stand that I bought and had delivered to the store.  When it was first put out on the floor, I added the antique wash bowl and the mercantile scale for display.  Now, thanks to the store manager Dennis, it is at the front of the store and he has it decorated with fall decor – which looks great against the green tile backsplash.

It is such a beautiful piece and I would have kept it for myself if I had a spot for it at home.  The marble top on it has such a beautiful and mellow patina and the deep green tile backsplash is simply gorgeous.  It is a super piece, right down to the pretty legs and metal wheels.

I’m a bit “time worn” myself, but I am loving the changes around our house and look forward to having them done here pretty soon.  I am thankful to those who do the heavy work for me and make it all come together, both at home and at the store.  I could not do it without them.

Till next time…..

Becky - I have almost the same washstand except my tiles in the back are floral. Your booth looks great!! I know you are ready to get all of the redos done and over with. I keep putting off starting on my kitchen just for that reason. Just the drawn out ordeal!

Have a great day!

Love,
Judy

Becky, I really have become such a fan of your blog. Your photos and arrangements are so skillfully done. I linked to your blog in my last post. I couldn't help it; you've been such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing on the blog. Remember the old days, when we had no contact with kindred spirits the world over?

That's a wonderful idea and very helpful to your customers/clients. I would love it if the local flea markets would employ your method.

That is a beautiful washstand. I've never seen one like it.

Can't wait to see how things are going at your house!

You do have some really great stock, such a shame you are so far away. I was amazed when I saw the little wash stand, we had exactly the same one in a bathroom in our old house, right down to the green tiles! What a small world.

You have such cute stuff in your booth! There is certainly something about timeworn items that make them appealing. The lack of pretense, they have served and withstood the wear anmd maintained their beauty, and things just aren't made as well or as beautifully anymore!

Becky love your booth, looks good!
I have a garbage can like that and I use it for a fern holder. I also have a wire potato basket like that and I have it full of vintage gardening tools on the back porch.
Sure wish I could shop your booth.

If I were there I would buy STUFF ! Thank you for the sweet email. I have so missed talking to you.. The Father God has brought me through the dark days and I am moving into my morning. You so understand... It has been a journey...... one that I do not want to walk again.. but HE is faithful to carry us when we can no longer stand.. What a God we serve.. Looking forward to visiting much MORE often and sharing things of the Lord and life.... Love ya much...

Something tells me that your farmhouse section would be my most favorite area in the store.....Love that chippy ol' stuff. And that wash stand is GORGEOUS! The salon where I go has one very similar - except the tiles are blue....I've begged the owner for years to sell it to me - even though I'm not much of a "blue" person and don't have a spot for it either! I think the green would push over the edge from "wanna have" to "gotta have" were I closer! Happy Sunday Dear Becky! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
