Project Backyard

Awhile back, Kate included me in a MEME to show photos of views of our yard from our front and back doors. I shared the front view here, but the back wasn't worthy of sharing. So that lit a fat fire under my backside to get a long awaited project D-O-N-E. Now keep in mind this wasn't a difficult project, just one of those that get put on the back burner. YaknowwhatImeanjellybean?
An old French Bistro set...yes, cute as white with black vinyl seats...but gosh, just not quite the "Look" that I was stearing for. So off came the seats and icky vinyl...

...and on went the paint...a sweet vintagey green color. The paint is Rust-Oleum's American Accent line and the color is "Leafy Green."

...a little peek at the finished table project.....

This is our back patio that my hubby and I have fixed up a bit by adding the white shelf and mirror and other little touches. There is that cute red roofed birdhouse again that Michelle and Rob made for me.
The patio faces west so we get bombarded by the hot California sun in the afternoon. I made the curtain out of a new painter's drop cloth and added grommets to the top and made a Bishop Sleeve and tied it back with a pink rope.
....here is the finished table and chairs. I bought a sweet vintage inspired oil cloth that has a bubblegum pink background with red strawberries and little flowers. To order oil cloth, you can go here to Jack's Country Store. They have fun stuff to buy for your house and a nice selection of oil cloths. Next will be some pillows...

Dughall says, "Now walk with me and I will show you a little bit of our garden in the backyard. Watch out for the pool so you don't fall in ~ or perhaps you would like a refreshing dip right about now..."

Love the colors of this Caladium..Sweet yellow Coreopsis add a little sunshine to our garden.

Wonderful and full Lace Cap Hydrangeas in white and pink fill in one side of the walkway.

Nothing is better than old fashioned Shasta Daisies. They just bloom and bloom and are so happy!
One of my pink roses that has a frilly ruffled petal.

And finally, a little place to sit and drink a glass of sweet tea when I am all done putzing around.

Thanks for sharing. I love that shade of green; green being my favourite colour, of course.

The back of my house faces west too, including my kitchen, and I often curse this fact as I swelter in our hot Aussie summers.

It's beautiful. Love the painter's drape..mirror..table, new chairs..everything! I think you need to add some native rodents to your garden. Big furry ones. (Scotties love to chase them for about a month) Some folks think they are cute. They call them squirrels. I call them many other things. I will try and catch a few and maybe make a drop in your nabe someday. P.S. to keep them happy, sit out one of those bee skeps. They LOVE to tear it up and they are fond of oilcoth too!

Oh my gosh Becky, you would be laughing your buns off if you had seen me late this afternoon. I'm outside on my west facing California back porch...trying to figure out how to get that darn sun to stop blazing down on my little area. SOoooooo....there I was up on my kitchen stool with 4 white sheets and a bunch of binder clips! (Don't laugh, it seemed like a good idea at the time). Needless to say, it looked absolutely cruddy and I was a hot sweaty dissapointed mess. Sigh. Painters cloths! You are brilliant my dear! I am so going to Home Depot this weekend!

Dena

Great blog with beautiful photos. And, a Scottie! You just don't see Scottie's on many blogs. I have only seen one other besides my own. You make three and I have been reading blogs for a few years. Thanks for sharing, Dughall. He is so handsome!
