Do you know someone who can remember every single aspect about a movie, including reciting lines from it? I am sure each one of us has a friend or family member like that.
These kind of people amaze me – I can hardly remember the title of a movie let alone what was said and by who.
Because Jim Carey movies are such a big hit in our family, I reach deep into the brain vault for some of his infamous movie lines – only because the boys loved to impersonate him so much, especially Ace Ventura, Pet Detective.
And then there is the catchphrase by Clint Eastwood’s character, Harry Callahan, “Go Ahead Make My Day” from the movie Sudden Impact. Love using that one for myself!
There is one “gotcha phrase” that is my very favorite movie quote of all time – and from one of my favorite movies in my go-to chick flick stash. Have you seen the movie Meet Joe Black? (If not, it is reallllly good). The movie came out in 1998 and starred Brad Pitt (Joe Black), Sir Anthony Hopkins (William Parrish) and Claire Forlani (Susan Parrish – daughter to William) – to name a few. To me, one of the best parts of the movie was the scene when Susan was in the helicopter with her father, William, and fiance’ Drew (Jake Weber), talking about love and relationships. William said to Susan…. “Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same back..I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish.”
There it is there….the perfect advice about love. I have recited this back a time or two since then.
It speaks volumes.
What is your favorite movie quote?

"Don't get snippy with me, I'm just doin' my job". From the movie Fargo ( close enough to the MN accent for me ). Do the quotes we remember define who we are? In that case "She made my heart go pitter-pat." From my ATF movie, On Golden Pond. The opening music gets me every time. Sniff, sniff.
p.s. I never get the quotes completely right. :@
Hi Becky,
What a fun post...lets see...My favorite quote would be "No one puts baby in the corner" from dirty dancing. I always cry during that seen.
I also love the quote "There's No Place Like Home, There's No Place like Home" from the Wizard of Oz.
Miss you, hope to visit soon..
Big hugs, XO Elizabeth
"Whatever else something is, it ought to to start by being personal" or something like that from "You've Got Mail"
"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" but the truth is, you are amazing Becky! I just love visiting your blog, your pics are soooooo sweet and your posts are so inspiring.
Love ya,
Debbie
Oh my stars! My favorite? There are too many to narrow down to just one. My husband and I are "those" people who quote movie lines. Like" "You might wanna scooch over. You did the right thing." and "Holiday-whobe-whatie?" from The Grinch. Or "They keep pulling me back in.." from The Godfather. Or "His momma call him Clay, I'ma call him Clay." from Coming to America. I could go on! Thanks for the giggle!
Becky love your pictures. I'm not much of a movie buff. Let's see...
how about The Wizard of Oz when
Dorothy said "Toto I don't think we're in Kansas anymore". That's the only one I can think of at the moment.
Becky
Would you beleive me if I tell you I just bought that movie today for
part of my daughters birthday present? I was telling her about it, thinking she had surely seen it
But 'no', she hadn't. I cried at the end, of course. Did you? And I love the 'It's a Wonderful World'
version on the movie too.
BTW, I wish I had half the little terrier you've collected. They are all adorable!
Hmmmm...I'm drawing a blank. Of course the Dirty Harry quote is used by everyone at some point isn't it? It's just so good!
That is a great movie - and a great quote - I'd forgotten it myself (no, I'm NOT one of those persons you referred to...) ;o) I have to say, my all-time favorite movie quote is a toss-up - between probably the ONLY two quotes I can remember: "Frankly, Scarlet, I don't give a damn...." and "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore...." When you think about it, these two sayings come in handy in many more conversations than you might think possible.... ;o) Fun post Becky....Wishing you a wonderful holiday week....Smiles & Thanksgiving Hugs ~ Robin
I don't know, Becky. My mind isn't bending around this one so well. Say, I see that we have a similar little Dutch girl string holder. Mine is spitting string. Yours is not. Not a good look? =)
"I don't know nothin 'bout birthin' no babies Msss Scarlett!"
What a great quote! I will have to think on that, I'm horrible at remembering quotes when I'm asked. Any other time I could rattle off 20, but when I'm put on the spot I draw a blank!
I hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Kat :)
From To Kill a Mockingbird..... "Stand up, Ms Jean Louise.... your father's passin'". Love that courtroom scene.
My son Randy is like that, remember what seems like the entire movie. I don't seem to remember too much of anything these days, let alone movie lines, but I always seem to remember the line from Princess Bride.."Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." I think it's just because he says it so many times though :)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Marcia
"Joel! There's a crack in my egg!"
from Risky Business. But that's just one of many..believe me.
:)
"There's a word for ladies like you but it's not used in high society outside of a kennel" (The Women)That is one of my favorite movies and the first time I heard Joan Crwford say that, I was floored.
Your Dutch girls is cute and I adore your Scotties (both breathing and non-breathing)I got the biggest kick this Summer when a lady brought her Scottie to my garage sale. I told her she could leave him with me and she said that he was High Maintance. He went the the Chiropractor once a week and also went to school everyday.
Happy Thanksgiving
My husband is one of "those" people. Unfortunately he's not here or I would ask him for a quote. When we were dating we started a game we called "what movie",he'd quote a line and I was suppose to guess.
Okay I thought of one, (with nice Irish accent) "What about Second Breakfast...elevensies, lunch, dinner, supper??" Ot how about "Stand back there may be a large rabbit dropping!" The 1st from Fellowship of the Ring 2nd from "Wallace and Gromit , Curse of the WereRabbit". The latter is currently playing-- my 16 yr old son is a Wallace and Gromit fan.
"I'm just a girl - standing in front of a boy - asking him to love her." Julia Roberts to Hugh Grant in Notting Hill. Gets me every time!
I can help store some of those Scotties if you need me to! LOL!
Happy Thanksgiving.
How about "Love means never having to say you're sorry" from Love Story. (what does that mean, anyway?) Mimi
I do know someone who can pretty much quote the whole movie Twilight and that would be my daughter. I was watching it one time with her and it was a little disconcerting every time she said the line right before they said it ... too freaky! Personally my favorite movie is "Field of Dreams" and there are several great lines in that one. Love all your pics today!
Let's see, my fav movie quote has got to be from my fav movie, Sleepless in Seattle. "I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic." Love it, Kit
Sweet post Becky! Love all your vintage goodies. I always loved Judy Garland in "Meet Me in St. Louis" saying "you just do that little thing" as she was talking to her Bo on the phone! I have said that many times since! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving Becky!
Love ya,
Maryjane
PS
Pics of your fur babies warm my heart!
Happy Thanksgiving my beautiful bloggy friend! Can I just move in with you? Your little touches are just darling and I lurve them.
Hmmmm, my favorite movie quote... 'Is it you?' - Elise McKenna from Somewhere in Time. I lurve that movie, my favorite!
I think I know all of the lines from "You've Got Mail" by heart! Happy Thanksgiving dear friend!!
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
My husband loves that quote from Joe Black! He had made sure that both girls know it! I have not even watched the movie!! Gotta remeber to! My favorite movie to quote is Steele Magnolias! "Get off of my BENCH"!! and "If you ain't got something good to say about someone, then come sit by me!" Sandie
I'm always saying, "howdy pilgrim" but I have no idea what John Wayne movie it is from. I have to tell you that every single picture in this post makes my heart sing!! I think if I ever visited you I would never want to leave!
