An Organizer For The Bed

P1010075

Need a place to tuck your glasses after having read a good book or magazine in bed? Or even a pocket to put the TV remote, that is if you have a TV in your bedroom. A few moons ago I had a request from my dear friend Kathy Sue (Miss Tina’s sister)to make her a bed organizer. Knowing that Miss Kathy loves red and ticking stripes, I fashioned one for her with fabrics I thought would go in her bedroom.

P1010069a I did not have a pattern, only a picture for reference. I made a pleated pocket in the front…

P1010071a added some vintage lace to the top…

P1010070a

..and the bottom.

P1010068a I think my favorite thing about the piece is the beautiful handmade crochet edging at the bottom. The organizer is long enough to tuck up under a mattress and the pockets large enough to hold a book or magazine.

Thank you, Miss Kathy, for inspiring me to make you something!

See y’all later!

This is so sweet! What a great idea for those of us who love to read in bed. You should make more of these and sell them - I bet many of your readers and fans would love one, Becky.

Becky how sweet of you to make that for Kathy. I love the maple leaf pattern on that crochet piece.
You tied that in very nicely with the floral and the ticking. Beautiful!!! I made one for my friend's mother who was in a nursing home. Their great for their wheel chair, bed and walker.

Hi Becky! Oh how long has it been? Far too long but then I stop by to take a look in your cottage. I made one of these out of a vintage dresser scarf for my first Make do and Mend Monday project. They are wonderful to have tucked away between your mattress and box spring. Hope you are well?

It's been so long since I have dropped in to see what you are up to..and of course you are making adorable things! I made one of those for my father years and years ago. I did it because I was broke and it was Christmas. He loved it. They are so handy. He had it until it completely wore out.
Yours is lovely...needless to say, mine didn't look a bit like yours.
:) But..it suited Daddy.

How are you? I hope you are doing well and smiling a lot. I hope your smile outshines the sun one day.
Love and hugs,
Mona
