Time & Measurements

P1010063e

How is everyone doing? I hope that you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving day. We had a lovely dinner with our first BBQ’d turkey done on my husband’s Traeger….oh and it was reallllly good. After much of Kim’ sweet potato casserole, a sausage and apple stuffing, sweet and sour green beans and a fabulous no-flour chocolate cake with raspberry sauce….well, I should just say that I am avoiding the scale for a week! Now only if I can find some TIME in the refrigerator…then I’d be content. Do you ask yourself where this year has gone? Time sure does fly………But, before I start in with the decorating and hustle and bustle.....I would just like to kick up my feet and just relax. What about you?

I am with you! I am staying off the scales for a week. I have never had BBQ turkey...sounds yummy. Here in the south some people fry their turkey, although I never have tried it. I have eaten too much too! I have put the lights on my tree tonight and that's it for me I am sitting back and relaxing too.
God Bless

We took things quite easy today with a very relaxed day. Lots of pie and leftovers though so I'm not going anywhere near a scale for a while. Just don't need the reminder that 15 pounds off the waistline would be a healthy improvement... LOL

I've got a feeling these weeks before Christmas are going to fly by! I would join you kicking back but I'm making bows and baskets of flowers for a baby shower tomorrow...

Whew! I cooked all day yesterday and the food was so good. I did have some help with other family members bringing dishes. But I cooked 10 Cornish hens for my dressing and baked a ham, too! Plus several other side dishes and desserts. AND cleaned up the house. I used my "special" dishes and crystal even though my hand kept pulling me to the Chinet plates at the grocery store.

And I'm glad I did. The tables were so pretty and I didn't even think about taking a picture!

Old Britain Castles pink dishes, mismatched linen and lace napkins, pink with shimmering gold goblets (thrift store find), First Lady crystal by Gorham and my gold and silverplate flatware...so pretty!

My nephew said it was like being at a bed and breakfast. Now that was a compliment that made all the work worth it to me.

Thankful for family this year. They make a house a home...

It felt good to just hang around the house today, although I am trying to get my decorating done before I go back to school this Monday.

We also had barbecued (really smoked) turkey and an oven roasted turkey. I have nieces and nephews that are college age and they all brought friends so we had 35 plus at my sister's house. The barbecued turkey was just divine. Luckily I don't care for stuffing, mashed potatoes, or most of the other traditional Thanksgiving foods so I've managed to be "good."

We're getting ready to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" on Sunday evening. That movie always puts me in the holiday spirit.

Please stop by and see my vintage cherry purse. I think you'd get a kick out of it!

I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving Becky. My youngest brother had us all to his house. He deep fried the turkey. As usual we'll be having leftovers for a week!
Hugs,
Dawn

I think we're all in the same boat. Yesterday I said I wouldn't eat for a week but somehow I forced down some leftovers today. How quickly I forget! Monday Christmas will officially start. I'm just hanging out this weekend. Mimi

BBQ'd turkey is something I've never heard about. Was it juicy and tender? Glad you had a lovely day. My only vice of the day was the desserts! yummy but deadly caloric... Gotta go on a diet soon so I can be "legal" on my driver's license. LOL I can't relax yet- I'm so far behind because of my head injury that I need to get my hiney in gear NOW!!

I think we all ate to much. But everything tastes so good! Spending time with family and friends make a good day, doesn't it.

I actually only overdid on the pumpkin pie...which I could consume at every meal for the rest of my life and die a happy woman. :)
Starting the Christmas decorating this weekend...FUN!

My Grandfather always told me that the older you get, the faster time flies - and he was right. It seems like if was just yesterday that Lilly had puppies and here we are almost a year away and expecting more.

Hi Becky,
My hubby and I stayed home for Thanksgiving so it was just us for dinner. I defrosted a ham loaf I prepared earlier in the year so the meal was so easy just had to reheat it in the oven and put the side dishes with it. I baked a pumpkin pie so easy too. I told my hubby it was such a relaxing holiday for me I really enjoyed it. We got our Christmas gift (flat screen TV) early and bought a new cabinet for it today so my hubby is busy with moving the old one and putting together the new one. Tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day here (sunny and high of 58 degrees) so I will probably work on the outside Christmas decorations.

Hello Sweet Becky!

Glad to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving and it sounded sooo "yummy"! Hubby deep fried our turkey and it was so moist! Had you on my mind quite a bit yesterday, thinking how you were doing. The firsts and seconds are harder than most. Had a nice talk with hubby about you to.

Kick up your feet girl! The Christmas boxes are down waiting for for me. I think I will join you in relaxing today!

Hugs,
Maryjane

Oh yes, we had a lovely holiday too. :) I have an off topic question for you. Awhile back I saw your post on your amazing "daily bread" pillows. I commented on them and asked you about then...BUT!!...I should have bought one then because I don't see any now. :( I want to buy one now for a Christmas gift. Will you be stocking more or not? Thank you.

I'm getting in the Christmas decorating in dribs and drabs. Can't quite seem to decide on things yet. When I feel like that, I know to just let time do the trick. That recipe did sound delicious. Kick up your feet this weekend and treat yourself for a job well done!

I packed up all my autumn things today. I don't have to rush my Christmas decorating this year because I'm not rushing back to work. Hooray for retirement! If you get a chance, please visit me this week. I'm having my first ever give-away!

I always like to wait a week or two before I start the Christmas decorating! We had a lovely Thanksgiving and I'm using the next week or two to finish organizing the closets and cupboards, take some long walks to work off the calories, and then start in on Christmas!

Oh, Mr. B on the barby! Can't get much better than that. Unless it's one of your scrumptilious desserts!!!!!!!

It's good to be home. However, Maggie was much more excited to see Mr. B the other day than she was to see me! Little hussy! LOL!

Relaxing is good! It's always great to sit back and enjoy.

Dear Becky,
Thanks for your sweet wishes, we did have a wonderful Thanksgiving. It is hard to believe that Christmas is so close. We packed up Fall decorations and brought all of the Christmas totes down from the attic. Time to get busy.
The grand kids are so excited! We want to get all the work done in the next week so that we can truly enjoy the gifts of this special season.
We wish you and your family a joyous Christmas season, as we all rejoice in the birth of of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We love Him!
Fondly, Deborah & Hubs

No, don't get on the scales! I've already ruined my morning doing so. LOL Your menu sounded really yummy. My only disappointment food-wise for Thanksgiving was the sweet potato casserole that I BOUGHT. It was awful :P Glad the turkey turned out so well. What is hubby cooking on it next?
XO,
Lallee

We used our new Traegar to cook our turkey, too. It was the best turkey ever! Your dogs are just the cutest.
