Checks, Bluebirds, Tagged and Make My Day Award

I made the heart for a friend, but thought I'd share it before boxing it up. It is made of old red gingham fabric with simple and sweet daisies tossed about all over it. A little daisy charm, a vintage yellow button, old baby rick-rack and millinary make it look more summery.

This little tin child's toy plate hangs out with an assortment of Scotty Dogs. I love the graphics of these old toys. I only found one of these, but now I am on the prowl for more!!!

Last week I was given the You Make My Day award from Heidi, over at Gold Country Girls, and wanted to say thank you a whole bunch for being so kind and thinking of me. Heidi doesn't live too far from me and we just need to meet someday! Heidi also has a knack for collecting all things vintage, kitsch and cute! Stop by sometime and visit her ~ you will meet a sweetheart of a gal!
Now, many weeks ago (time sure flies by) I was tagged by those sweet Melbourne girls, Jenn and Jacqui, to list seven WIERD facts about myself. So ya ready? I'll make it quick:

I have to make by beds first thing in the morning.

I pay attention to teeth and cringe when I see plaque buildup on people's teeth (it is the dental assistant thing in me).

Don't like it when adults yell at children in public and treat them less than human (lets not get me going about having leashes on kids).

Clean laundry makes me happy and I have to use Downey rinse (lavender and vanilla = fresh).

I have cream colored carpets and tile and don't like shoes worn inside our home.

There is a huge garbage bag filled with socks that need to be matched up and put away.

When I drink milk, I have to have something sweet to go with it.

Becky: Good thing I go to the dentist constantly for cleanings.... I had to leave a store oncer (starts with W ends with Mart) because some person (certainly no lady) was yelling at her little toddler. Anyway, nothing wierd about your list-all make perfect sence to me! Let's call them endearments. I'll travel with my slippers in the car now! LOL

Am I getting the feeling you have a bluebird thing going on?

Your so funny, Becky. The first thing I notice about a person is their teeth. They don't necessarily have to be straight...just clean. I like a big smile on people. And while I don't like to hear people berating their kids in public either, I think I hate when parents don't discipline their unruly, obnoxious kids even more.

Your heart is darling. I love decorating with hearts. And stars!

Love,
Julie

Also great to know more about you my friend - the socks one killed me. I have bunches of socks that get lost from the laundry basket to the washer/dryer. Yep, I am convinced there is a laundry sock thief in our home - its not me, right? Hey, love the cutie things below to! Love, Esther

LOL...ditto on the rug/shoes...I have a sign in my entryway that says "No Shoes"..it rainy here in the Pacific Northwest and if I didn't my rugs would be a wreck!!
The heart you stitched is very sweet!

I love all your fun things around the house. I too love whimsy and fun...what would life be without it?

I am a tooth person too...which reminds me that I need to make an appointment for a cleaning! I had to cancel mine when I was ill last week!

Can not stand yelling at children in public...or anyone for that matter. I have gotten my self in a few jams due to this when I get involved but I cannot help it and am never sorry.

Maybe some of your socks are mixed up with mine 'cause I have some that the mates are really lost!
Where do the poor things go??

Love the heart...soooo cute.

Hugs,
Sue

Dearest Becky
This sounds so familiar... home from home!
My hackles rise whenever I hear parents verbally abusing their children with shouts and intimidation.. It upsets me so much!
I must have the knickers equivalent to your sock bin liner...
Your gingham heart is utterly charming!
I have a whole tin tea set similar to your sweet little plate... email me if you are interested??
Much love to you.

P.s Promise to catch up with you soon when the school hols are finished!

Love learning more about you Becky! That rinse sounds great, I'll have to pick some up when I come over there later this year... fresh smelling laundry is wonderful! It's the putting-it-away part that bothers me!

Hi Becky,
Everything is so pretty in you home. I also had to catch up on posts that I had missed and I loved seeing the pictures of Yosemite. I haven't been ther for years, but looks like I need to make a trip soon!

Who would have thunk it! A bag of socks! :) You had me laughing! I always have a laundry basket full of clothes that are clean folded and ready to be put away. But somehow or other there is always something that comes up and I end up emptying it right before I clean the next load. It seems too easy, right!!??? :)

Hi Becky! What a pretty heart. You have really been sewing up a storm lately. I think it is great.

I just gave you the Excellent blogger award so please stop by my blog and pick it up. It is a well deserved award for you dear friend.

I agree that you should try and meet up with Heidi (only wish I was that Heidi) if you live close. I have met a blogging friend living in the same city and she is so wonderful to sit for hours and chat with. It has been really rewarding to be able to become friends with her.

Kitty greetings to Doogs from Dagi!

Hugs ~

Hi Becky, I agree about the teeth, and my husband is with you on the milk, but I'm not so sure about the harnesses.

My aunt had five kids under 5 (2 sets of twins and one in the middle, including one boy with cerebral palsy) and she couldn't go out in public with them when they were little without a harness. I've never used a harness on my kids, though.

hugs,

Kate

I adore that little heart. Love the fabric!

Once you get the socks sorted, let me know if you still have mismatches. Their matches might me in my pile or orphans.

You'll be happy to know I visit my hygienist every six months.

Clean laundry makes me happy too, so you would think that I would do it more regularly and make myself happy. It is also my most favorite smell...clean clean clean...don't get me started on how much I love TIDE!!! Bottle that sucker and I would spray it all over me.

I love the heart you gave Daisy Cottage. Kim is so lucky! And, I too despise when adults scream at children in public, well any time for that matter.
