....well.....that is an open ended question, now isn't it?
Literally, it could mean a place of dwelling for a dog OR an an idiomatic term for being in disfavor.
However, in either circumstance, I have a hunch that THIS "doghouse" is the place to be, despite having angered your loved one or being a loving pet canine that is seeking refuge from the harsh elements.
This marvelous little shelter is the epitome of a noble dwelling that you may find tucked under some heather in the highlands of Scotland. I shall divulge to my readers that the lad (Mr. Doug) that created this little dwelling has been known to indulge in a pint of Guinness and, on occasion, does sport his Scottish kilt & Tam O' Shanter. Do I hear the drone of the bagpipes from a cliff far-far-away?
Imagine yourself in the Scottish moors...away from everything imaginable...the breath of the fog forcing itself into your lungs...gulping for the fresh clean air that the sea gifts you for the moment.
Imagine yourself in the Scottish moors...away from everything imaginable...the breath of the fog forcing itself into your lungs...gulping for the fresh clean air that the sea gifts you for the moment.
Running .....
chasing the badgers and rats that hide and torment you from under the sage.....
A place where others have proudly hung their tags after visiting this Gaelic little tuck box.
....A place where you cannot only hang your hat, but you can also hang your antique studded dog collar on the sweet little hook.
A place where Black Forest deer Antlers are displayed over the door....
...and sweet little flower boxes are filled with the season's finest botanical specimens.
Should you need a place for nourishment, the dog bowls are always full.
....And inside there is the latest of reading and educational instruction on hunting those wild creatures that can only cause alarm to our human friends.
A lovely place to snuggle up and be cozy amongst the handmade pillows and fine woolen textiles (handmade by the Scottish lassy, Wave ~ who happened to be Cottage Of The Month in January 2009 at The Old Painted Cottage).
however I think he has been distracted by the cheese...which is fine...as long as he leaves the biscuits for the most deserving of canines.
You will even have your choice of antique dog bowls to eat from...if you can get that cat to get off of them. Of course, a kitchen would not be properly equipped without a Black Forest shelf and a picture of my Great Uncle Duhgall - the greatest ratter of all Scotland!
This is Maudie Mac Fie....the Heiress of Glendoghal Cottage....
Note: This darling cottage doghouse was built by our friend, Doug.
Doug is quite the craftsman at building and use recycled redwood to create this charming Black Forest Style doghouse. In fact, his wife (and my sweet friend, Wave) had seen a similar style house at an antique shop. Being as both are avid dog lovers (and collectors of antique and vintage dog items), Doug decided to build his lovely wife a doghouse. No....it isn't for Wave...but rather for their lovely little canine family. Wave insisted that I share that she ONLY embellished the house and that Doug was the mastermind behind this fabulous creation!
Are they for sale? Well.......I keep telling them that they are onto something......
What a cute post and what an adorable doghouse!!

Oh what a lovely dog house. So creative. I love how he hung the tags too. What a special doggie the Doughall boy is. Did I spell that right? I hope so. Thanks for sharing his lovely palace. It inspires me although Daisy doesn't spend much time outside. She loves run around and then napping under a tree to wait for me.
ReplyDeleteYa'll have a great weekend. Can't wait to see the weekend photo's. Maybe I'll take some haven't my poor Daisy in a long time.
Blessings,
Sherry
The cute decor for this actually beats the little house we had for our Duffy. His was a two room yellow clapboard beauty. The second room off to the side had a little window for him to peek out! Bit it certainly was not decorated. Duf was a bare bones kinda guy, I guess. Tell your neighbors they do great work and should sell them!
ReplyDelete:-) Sue
I'd love that in my backyard. It's adorable. Mimi
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dog house! It reminds me of an old cabin tucked away in the woods! I love it!
