Just The Facts, M'am - Just The Facts

Remember the 1951 show Dragnet? Some of you may remember or perhaps watched the re-runs. It was a "cop" show with a stone faced Sgt. Joe Friday and his somewhat softer partner, Officer Bill Gannon. I remember Sgt. Joe Friday would do an interview and say, "Just the facts M'am...just the facts."
These days I have Sgt. Joe Friday in my head. Just the facts, please, just the facts.

Where am I going with this? I am heading down the political road on my blog. Yes. Yes I am!! My belly is in a knot. I am afraid for our Country. These are the facts as I see them.

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years.

The first six the economy was doing just fine.

He even encouraged people to shop after 9-11 (as Sen. Obama brought up at the last debate). Why? He didn't want us to panic and have our economy fail, which was the intent of Osama Bin Laden. But up until two years ago.....

1 - Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high

2 - Regular gasoline sold for 2.19 a gallon

3 - the unemployment rate stood at 4.5%

4 - the Dow Jones hit a record high

5 - Americans were buying new cars and taking overseas vacations.

But...some Americans wanted "Change". In 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and we got "change" - yes we did. So, with this in mind.....

1- Consumer confidence has plummeted

2- Gasoline has reached over 4.00 a gallon

3 - Unemployment is up to 5.5% - a 10% increase

4 - Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 Trillion Dollars and prices are still on a decline

5 - Our stocks, bonds, mutual funds and investment portfolios have spiraled down to the tune of $2.5 Trillion dollars - just poof - evaporated!

Why is Senator Obama continuing to point the finger at President Bush? Keep in mind that the President has no control over any of these issues, only Congress. Isn't it just peachy that the Democrats have given us such "wonderful" change? Isn't that what Senator Obama is about - change?

For another little fact, please stop over at Kirsten's blog and watch this You Tube video about Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Pay great attention to who is opposing regulations. Just one more thing that the democrats are blaming on our President.

"Just the facts, M'am....just the facts."

I am a Conservative Christian - I LOVE my Country - I fear for our Country and the fate of the entire world.

Please pay attention. Vote with facts, do your homework.

We do need change - but Country First!!

One last thing, has anyone paid attention to the yard signs for Obama and Biden? You have to really look close for Biden's name...it isn't bold like Obama. Hmmm....Just a little fact.

And one last fact - one we should not forget - we have not had a terrorist attack on US soil since 9-11. Should we blame that on President Bush! Wink. Nod. Why YES we should, by golly!

Our vote: McCain and Palin - wink, nod - YOU BETCHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Change? Yes please so I don't have to resort to one of these!

First time ever in my 50 years on this earth that I feel I have no choice in this election. So torn, I wish I had the conviction to stand behind the republican ticket. 31. Well said! I was just noticing that about the Obama signs last week. Interesting, huh?

Just curious, have gas prices come down any out there? We are down to $2.65 here in Missouri. More than a $1 decrease in 2 months. People say its only because an election is around the corner. I hope its not true.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So well put.

He's a socialist, in Liberals' clothing.

    And another thing to consider:

    Obama is not only pro-abortion..

Obama is not only pro-LATE TERM abortion...

But, he also supports denying medical care for babies that survive botched abortions.

I can not even begin to touch on the evilness of that.

I can promise, God will not care what my views were on the economy, the war on terror (except where Israel is concerned), and other various issues....however, he WILL hold me accountable for my views concerning the sanctity of life.

As far as the signs...it is so discouraging to see all of the Obama signs--which, by the way, do not even have Biden's name where I live.

Thanks for the post. It's refreshing to see commmon sense in these days when it's so rare.

Have a great afternoon and a wonderful weekend!

  34. I agree with Thimbleanna! Please do fire off a link to your comments to the McCain headquarters!
Additionally, We, here in California, are very concerned about Proposition 8.
A "yes" vote will help to insure that the California Constitution defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman. If this does not pass, then it will be required that all of our children & grandchildren will be taught in the public schools, information regarding all types of marriage & with it, all of the requisite health and science information.
Those who live in California, please prayerfully and thoughtfully consider carefully your vote in this matter. This proposition is not about giving or taking away peoples legal rights. This is ONLY an attempt to redefine the definition of marriage as we have known it since the beginning of time.
Please vote YES on Proposition 8.
Thanks for your courageous words Becky!
    Go McCain/Palin !!!

  35. Becky I applaud you for stating facts. Way to go and I'm with you100%. Lets pray our country will take the blinders off when they vote. There are so many people who automatically vote for "their party" without even thinking about who or why they are voting. I have voted both ways in my lifetime but this year for sure my vote is for the republican candidates and what they stand for. This is a time for Christians to unite if our country is going to come out of these bad times. I am not going to badmouth anyone for how they vote as this is a right we all have but I just hope we all don't take this right lightly.

  38. Hi Becky,

I'm writing this from the perspective of an Aussie who isn't familiar with the finer details of the US election campaign.

However, many, many non-Americans hold Bush government policy responsible for the disastrous war in Iraq and for the policies that lead to the collapse of world share prices and a likely world-wide recession. While I don't know if Obama has any answers, I do know that many non-Americans see GW Bush as one of the worst American presidents ever.

It sounds like you're all stuck between a rock and a hard place with the choices you have in this election.

Kate (and hopefully you're still talking to me after this:-))

  41. You need to stop watching Fox news, you need to go to factcheck.org, you need to open your eyes and see what is really going on. I'm not saying this to be sarcastic, I'm asking you to please see the other side of this. We have never had vacations. We have never had new cars. We don't make alot of money. Do you have health insurance? Have you ever been in the situation to desperatly need health insurance? I don't understand, I don't understand why you do not see the other side. Obama is a good person. He is not a muslim, he is not a terrorist. He cares about our country. Why would this man risk his life to take on this job as president if he didn't care? Please be fair.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you Maureen - well said.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You really do need to open your eyes and stop watching Fox News! I'm not a liberal and I'm not conservative, I'm a middle of the road independent thinker. I actually like both McCain and Obama. I agree with both of them on some of their issues and disagree with both of them on other issues. I didn't make up my mind in this campaign until McCain chose Palin as his running mate, and because of her I'm totally voting for our next President-- Obama!! The thought of someone like Palin, who is completely not qualified to be heartbeat away from the Presidential office, scares me to my bones. It doesn't matter to me whether she is Christian or not. The woman is not qualified to run the greatest country in this world. If you think we have problems now, imagine what it would be like to have someone so completely incompetent to be leading our country. With McCain's health being the way it is, it's not a stretch that she could be President some day. And, please save the "God will guide her if that should happen," because if you are Christian you would know that God helps those who help themselves and I doubt that Palin could even do that! As far as your comments about Obama, you really do need to check your facts. He's not a terrorist, the Acorn situation has been twisted by the conversative party, and he is not Muslim - the man was raised Christian just like you! Even McCain yesterday and today during a campaign rally had to correct people like you with your misguided believes about Obama. So, if you won't listen to me, PLEASE listen to him! As far as you blaming the democrats for the state of our nation... double check facts again... the last time our country was prosperous a democrat was in office! The nation is a mess because of the policies of Bush - not the democratic congress - most educated people would agree that statement. Please stop drinking the kool-aid, take off your rose-colored glasses, and get REAL! And, God help us all... after reading the comments of people who have posted on this blog, I'm quite scared that you are all eligible to vote! And, maybe you should stick to decorating instead posting blogs about things you don't understand... I actually liked your blog until I read this post--needless to say I won't be visiting any more.

  49. personally I don't believe conservatives give Barack a second look, all they hear is the fear mongering rumors that came out during the primaries. Please watch Baracks 30 minute TV time he has bought, I think its 6 days before election day. You might come to some realization he is a decent and very much qualified man to be our next President. If you don't watch to inform yourselves then you will continue to live in fear where there should be no fear, even McCain said that! I have much hope for a country with a Democratic President and pray we will have a Democratic congress too, if not, Baracks agenda of good will be torn down by the Republicans, that we will see for sure! God Bless America!

  56. I can assure you I did not write all those posts. Is it hard to believe there is more than one Democrat out there?
Yes it is odd that the liberal comments are considered the negative.
I won't be back to this blog or any of the others or will I buy from any of your sites you post. Anyone for McCain must not need the money anyhow. The McCain ticket is so crazy it is scary. Because of this woman's stand on abortion you are willing to trust her with a country? I am curious about something. You are so for the right to life (which I am also) but when does this end? When they turn 18 and get sent off to a uncalled for war to die? Is the right to life not as important when they get older?

    ReplyDelete
  57. By the way anonymous.....If he is a Christian like me and not a Muslim.....why did he chose to be sworn in on the Koran???? Please answer that...At my Christian Church we use a BIBLE...not a Koran....Go to FactCheck.Org and see if that is true! Just Proves he IS a muslim...After 9/11 the terrorists said they were going to destroy us from within.....do you honestly think when they put someone out there to do this job...He is going to label hisself as such?? No, He will hide it behind a smile and promises! Labeled as CHANGE!

  59. you gotta let this one go through,it's only fair, from factcheck.org is the following:
Swore on Koran? The e-mail says "when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran" – bunk yet again. Obama did not place his hand on the Koran when he was sworn into the U.S. Senate. This claim confuses Obama with the first and only Muslim member of Congress, Democratic House member Keith Ellison of Minnesota. Obama was sworn in using his own Bible, as widely reported in newspaper accounts and pictured above. That's his wife holding the Bible with Vice President Dick Cheney swearing him in. (Under the Constitution, the vice president serves as president of the Senate.)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh please stop with the fear mongering, its just ridiculous. Barack Obama is a Christian, YES like you and me, so just get over yourself! Maureen I agree with your stance on abortion is so frowned upon but war is not, aren't they both murder??? I am for the right to choose, I feel God will handle the rest! I will say again, please watch Baracks 30 minute commercial, 6 days before election day and hopefully you will do yourselves a favor and get to know him through his own words not the words of conservitive fear mongers.

    ReplyDelete
  61. While my vote will be going for McCain and Palin it is because of the remarks from the people who hide behind the anonymous remarks that will keep me from posting my belief on my blog.

There is never going to be a way for everyone to agree when it comes to politics.

I do believe that Obama is not to be trusted. I do believe he could even be the anti Christ and we are now living in the end times. If so, then many will be fooled by him, just as it seems they are now.

We must trust that we are in God's hands and if we are meant to go through the bad times ahead we can know that it will all be worth it in the end.

Nothing here on Earth will compare to what is offered to us in Heaven.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  62. I consider myself a "centrist", so my vote could sway both ways, but I just don't think Obama will get my vote, because I don't think he has what is takes to get us in the right track... I do have to say that, from an independent's perpective, I am appalled at how biased the media is towards Obama!! I am sick and tired of hearing and reading about stupid things like how much Palin's dress cost when we have a national crisis or how anybody with some intelligence should vote for Obama... These manipulative attempts just don't sit well with me...

  70. Good post - at least there is a way for McCain supporters to voice their opinions since our mainstream media thinks Obama is God.

God help our country if Obama "buys" this election.

  71. I have no problem leaving my name. I will vote for Obama. I highly respect him and his wife and believe they both want what is best for this country. I also believe that G-dub IS one of the worst presidients this country has ever had. He's embarrassing. I'm also an independant who will vote for who I believe the best choice is for our country. I voted for Bush. Now I want him out. As far as the abortion issue...well. I'm PRO-CHOICE. But. I'm also PRO-LIFE, as I believe many pro-choicers are. There is way too much grey to be black or white about abortion. Sad, but true. We all want to think what WE would do in a specific situation, but life doesn't work that way nor does society. So, I remain pro-choice AND pro-life. I am an opem-minded person. I believe in same sex-marriages because I have many friends who are gay and have been together for years. They are life partners who truly love each other. I can't tolerate intolerance. Our differences as people are what make this world less boring and more exciting. I've only touched on two things that are important to me. I'm not gay. I'm not Democrat. I've never had an abortion nor would I ever condone it.
I respect the opinions here and in this blog, and am here to state mine. Thanks...
