Good day to everyone! It is a good day, a better day...like R.E.M. says..."hold on!" Not that I am nutting up or anything like that (you can smile), but having my Dad hurt is painful. Thank you for ALL of your sweet and thoughtful comments, the prayers, the concern and the understanding. He is doing better, but his doctor is keeping him in the hospital for observation, more tests and more meds. Today I am going to visit and am going to let him know how wonderful all of you are and share the comments with him. I know that you will touch his heart...really lift his heart!!
On a lighter note, thought I'd share some little nuts..acorns to be exact. This little arrangment has my all too familiar pair of squirrels, some new fabric acorns and the real deal. These little buggers just are so happy with some quick fixins'! Next to them sits a little candy jar full of acorns and their hats. See the sampler? See the date? That is one of the many moons ago creations that I spoke of here. It was fun to stitch and the thing that I like about it most is the saying and, of course, the little acorns.
Ok...you usually won't find me on a soap box and that isn't what this blog is intended to be about. BUT!!!! Allow me to vent, please..... I do believe that one of my biggest pet peeves are those who TAIL GATE! No, not the fun party people gettin' their fun on before a game, but those who follow wayyyy too close whilst driving their car. Are they NUTS? I took some pictures recently of some mad drivers on the freeway. Keep in mind these people are driving 65-80 MPH on the freeway! Reaction time? Is there such a thing when their bumper is practically touching the guy's in front of them?! My dad is a retired Chippy and he taught me to keep one car length in front of me for every MPH. Ok, going 65 would = 6.5 car lengths. Makes good sense and also gives you ample reaction time. Look at these pics...do you see how close they are? Thank God my husband is a good driver. His dad told him you should never have to apply your brakes on a freeway, unless, of course, you have to come to a stop. I just wish people would not be in such a hurry. So many accidents these days are "pile ups" - now I can see why. Ok, I am done now....y'all be safe!!
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that your dad is doing better :) Have a good day today.
Hugs,
Dena
You always have such cute titles for your blogs. I find thats the hardest thing to come up with.I am so glad to hear your dad is doing better. It is amazing to me how powerful prayer is.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear about your father! It's hard when someone you love is hurting!
ReplyDeleteblessings, kari and kijsa
BTW....we don't like tailgaters either!
Gee... how do you feel about people that back cars into garage doors? Seriously, tailgating is not a good thing to do. It makes it really hard to concentrate on the game. So glad that your pop is holding his own. Glad I don't see my mug there amongst your nice nut pictures. Thinking of ya -
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to your sweet blog. I am so glad to hear that your Dad is better, it's always so hard when someone we love isn't doing well.
ReplyDeleteWill keep your Dad in my prayers!
Lidy
Glad too that your dad is better... happy early weekend and TGIF :)
ReplyDeleteGlad your dad is doing some better and is under good care!
ReplyDeleteThose fabric acorns are so cute! You created a wonderful vignette with all the nuts. I love the sweet smile on the squirrel.
The other thing that makes me nutty are slow drivers in the left lane. And that's when I see the tailgating get really bad. You really don't want me to get started. I could go into rant on that one ;-)
I must say, that I can't understand everything you wrote (ooooh, my english!), but I understand, that your father is doing better and I share your happiness (hope this is the right translation!)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Anja
I hope everything goes ok with your dad. I enjoyed my visit to your blog and I really like your cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteBecky,
ReplyDeleteI love your post today! Your sampler is beautiful and it looks great with all the nuts!
SO glad to hear your father is doing better. I'm a "Daddy's girl" so I will say an extra big prayer for you and yours tonight.
Michelle
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry I didn't get to comment on the post about your Dad being in the hospital. I'll be praying for a swift and complete recovery for him.
I agree with you 100% about tailgaters. CA freeways are not much fun at best, but tailgaters sure can make it more dangerous..
Keep us updated on your dad.
xo
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear your Dad has been unwell. Have the doctors found out the cause for his tiredness? My prayers are with both of you. I will ask my gal pals at church to pray as well.
Your acorns are so cute and the sampler is perfect for fall! You take now dear, ok?
Becky; My prayers are with you and your Dad.
ReplyDeletei am not use to freway traffic here in Kentucky, but I was in California this summer to visit my son and the freeway was way to hectic for me.
Have A good Day,Brenda
Glad to hear Dad is doing better. Will continue to keep you and him in my prayers. Thanks for sharing your acorns!
ReplyDeleteBecky, I hope your dad will soon be feeling better -- I will remember him in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteLove your little "nutty" tableau! I often collect acorns and nuts on my walks, but never thought to arrange them as beautifully as you did. Thanks for the inspiration!
xoxo,
Mary
I love that sampler! And those fabric acorns are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya talking about the tailgaters. One of the reasons I don't drive in big cities. (add that to being geographically challenged and it makes for a very nervous driver!)
I enjoyed stopping by your site for the first time. I am so sorry to hear about your dad, that is great that he is doing better. My Dad passed in May.
ReplyDeleteBristol
I love all your acorns especially the ones made of fabric, and your sampler is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your Dad is feeling better.
And, I am also very cautious of bad drivers so BRAVO for you being on the soapbox with this entry!
Happy news about your dad, I hope he feels much better soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your little squirrels and their winter stash of nuts. So cute, Becky!
And don't even get me started on tailgating.
Have a great weekend...
xo,
Melissa

ReplyDeleteHi Becky,

Take care,
Sandi
Thank you visiting me and would you believe, I had just looked at your cottage of the month pictures! Your home gorgeous and I love the mixture; wood, white paint, etc. I enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteBecky! Can I print this and show it to my husband and son-in-law? My son-in-law is the worst and it scares me to death. I just cling to the door....Now I'm done venting. I hope your dad is doing much better today!
ReplyDeleteAnother great centerpiece. You just have to send me one for october's centerpiece of the month!
ReplyDeleteI hope your dad will be home soon =D
Becky, I'm so glad your Dad is doing better. He's still in my thoughts & prayers.
ReplyDeleteThe sampler is so pretty and I probably still have projects from 1992 that I've never finished....lol.
I hate tailgating, too. It seems like our area is growing so fast and the drivers are getting worse. There are so many accidents and caused by plain old fashion stupidity. I don't think people pay any attention to the "RULES of DRIVING"!!!! Ok, off my soap box now...lol.
Have a great day!
Hi BECKY! I am sorry to hear your Dad is not feeling well, I will continue to send healing positive energy his way, do you mind if I ask what his name is so when I do this I can direct it right to him?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog it's always nice to see smiling faces on the porch :)
Hope your weekend is good
*muah*
Michelle
Back from my weekend at our cottage and I get to see these wonderful photos! I love acorns. SSHH... don't tell but that is my next autumn pincushion. I love your bowl of acorns and the squirrels. It is also wonderful to see yet another sampler. This one is my favorite but then it is of my favorite subject ~ autumn. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou can vent if you want. I agree with all you said. DH and I also are so irritated by drivers who do this. It is so common all over the world I think. If there is a car length during bad traffic, people become angry with you and pass you on the right to squeeze in. Then we once again keep a car's length for safety and it repeats itself. Crazy!
Hope you had a great weekend!
Dear Becky,
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that your dear Dad is doing better. I am certainly still praying that all goes well. Hang in there sweetie!
Your little squirrels are adorable. I have a glass container just like the one you have the acorns in. Mine is sort of orangish/yellowish though...I found mine for .25 cents at a thrift store. I don't think I ever posted a picture of it on my blog. I'll have to show you it sometime.
So glad to hear that your dad is doing better! I love your little acorn decorations - and the sampler is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at those freeway pictures and thought to myself that they look like freeways here, then I saw you are also in N. California! I was just talking to someone the other day on how bad tailgaters are lately. It seems to be getting worse every day! I had someone tailgating me on the way to work this morning. She wizzed around me so she could tailgate the person in front of me. It makes no sense at all! Yes, it's my pet peeve too!
