Shades of Red

Have you had a chance to visit Penny Carlson at http://lavenderhillstudio.blogspot.com/? Well, if not, then take some time to visit her and look at her wonderful blog. Penny posted about her transferware collection and her love for toile fabric. Her photos illustrate her passion and her collections are just wonderful!

As I have discovered, there are so many of us gals who share the same passion for certain dishes, collections and decorating. Like Penny, I am fond on toile fabric and transferware, primarily red transferware. Someday I would like to add more to my collection and to start collecting brown transferware, primarily the Aesthetic pieces.

Throughout our home we have splashes of red and black toile fabric. These photos are some of our lampshades with red toile fabric - oh, and one pink. I love the French Country look and the scenes on the shades are floral, some with roosters, but all very sweet.

Tomorrow the winner to my giveaway will be announced. Be sure to visit and find out if you won!

  4. Hi Rosie! Most of the red shades are from Pierre Deux. The pink one was made by my friend, Marsha, and she bought the fabric at Calico Corners. I have also seen it online, but don't recall the name of the fabric pattern.

I wish I was talented enough to make shades. I hope this info helps. xo, Becky

The 4th picture, is that the same pattern as Penny's? I really love it, it makes my heart skip a beat. :)

  9. Hey Becky,

I keep wondering how many houses you actually have!!?? :o) I LOVE all the corners of goodness and comfort and style and fun - your home is a real blessing and an inspiration! I too love toile (these shades are GORGEOUS) - I've wanted to do a black toile *something* for a long time - maybe I'll incorporate touches of it like you did in your bedroom (from your "Cottage of the Month" photos). Like I said - your home is an inspiration! Thanks for sharing every corner, nook, and cranny!!

    Hugs,
    Becky S.

  12. Am I the only one going crazy for the bread box? I do love the toile, don't get me wrong. But, that bread box is adorable. I love the little red gingham ribbon on it. Just a little splash of color.

    Love,

  16. I must tell you that your splashes of red (along with Cherry's love of red over at Cherry's Jubilee) has been really inspiring the direction of my living room redo. If I can just get done with the dang white painting of furniture...

  19. I love red and my feature wall in our living room is ox blood red. I also love toile and considered it for our bedroom but went with a roses and floral theme instead. You can see it at my homekeeping blog if you are interested (CelebrateTheSeasons). Toile is so romantic and timeless. In this ever changing world, I think things like this are becoming more popular for us to hold onto. Thanks for visiting me at my needlework blog and the nice comments.

  22. I love your home! The lamp with the lady on the shade is so pretty. I'm saving so much money on magazines by visiting blogs. Your home should be in one!

  23. I'm also a huge fan of Toile. I was to have to give up my beloved black and ivory custom made toile curtains when our last house sold. The new buyer was very explicit that they were to stay with the house or no deal! LOL...

I am so inspired by your little lamp in your kitchen that I've been on the hunt for my own!
