The Naked Truth

P1010050p Being your own boss has its advantages, however being a one-girl show means that getting the work done takes a bit more time. I do get help from the muscles in the family when it comes to the heavy stuff, thank God. And working from home means that home doesn’t always stay nice and tidy, like I prefer. Of course, blogging about the house means that y’all ONLY get to see the pretty and clean rooms, right? Not today….

here is the bare naked truth:

MY DINING ROOM IS A MESS!

P1010090

P1010093

***GASP!*** is right! OH NO!

Yup, oh no! Cannot be persnickety right now while I get Christmas bagged and tagged for the store. (And I did find a few little pixies to sell – cannot keep everything!)

P1010091 Even the cute Santa will be going in….

P1010092 …and lots and lots of Christmas linens.

P1010094

P1010097

Found this little crochet soldier, too. Now I need to be off and beating to the tune of my own drum!

Chow for now!

NOTE: Sarah asked on the last post if I applied the dark stain before I painted. Sarah, the first step is the paint and then add the stain to the areas that you wish to darken. The nice thing about the chalk paint is that any imperfections can just be sanded off. If you think there is too much stain, then use a fine sandpaper to remove it. Play around with it and have fun!

  1. That's how my studio looks right now....only with broken china, boxes and styrafoam peanuts!

  2. Hi Becky,
Thank you so much for joining French at Heart! I will follow you , as well. I think we have a lot in common, including vintage Christmas decorations, chalk paint, a "busy" dining room, and God!! Do come over and join me at Quiddity 2! I may show you my messy guest room, where I'm getting ready for another trip to Paris!
    Blessings of the day,

  4. Love this post - it's so refreshing to see that normal life does happen and does exist....And you have a very good excuse - it's going someplace (unlike the stuff on my dining room table right now that probably "should" be going someplace!) ;o) Sweet holiday goodies tho....I'd find it hard to part with them...Happy Tuesday! 5. LOL LOL....so you think MY house is clean at the moment, sugar???? I'm telling you it's driving me nuts, but I've committed to serve this mission for my church and I sit here making phone calls and cleaning up databases thinking of all the stuff I need to get done today. Sigh.... But I'll do it soon. I can barely find the carpets/floor for the dirt! I'm definitely OCD....

I absolutely adore your blog, photos, designs and clean crispness of your template. Just adorable.

But when I see Jordan I always think of the sacrifice that little doll made for his country. Thank you and if I see him in the next life, I'll hug him myself, honey. I WILL!

  16. I love a good mess Becky, it means something great is on the way!
I have to say, it is heartening to know that other people make messes when they work too. I thought my house was the only one that suffered from my projects:) Thanks for showing us real life.

  19. I loved your post and your mess especially when I saw those cute little elves! I sure wish I was close enough to come and buy them. They remind me of the ones that I had growing up. Do you mail out? I would love to buy them if that aren't already gone! :)

  20. Hi Becky~ Love seeing your busy room! I see so many little items I'd love. I had one of those little elves so many years ago and he just disappeared! :) I did notice those two little fuzzy faces were conveniently missing! ;)
