Brown Sugar Walnut Squares

Would you like a sweet, easy to make treat to go with that cup of morning coffee or to serve with a wonderful pot of tea? Well, these are that little treat that I think you will like! A pop-in-your-mouth-little-bite-of-goodness! Enjoy!

You can mix these by hand in a bowl...

1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup Flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsley chopped walnuts

combine:

Add egg to the bowl and break it up a bit with a spoon. Add the sugar and vanilla. Stir till mixed well.

combine:

Flour, soda and salt - mix it together and then add to the sugar mixture.
Stir until blended.
Add walnuts. Oil an 8 inch square pan. Pour the mixture into the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. Cool in the pan. Cut into 16 squares.
* note: I used a glass pan and baked for 18 minutes.

To make the squares even prettier, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
