Some Elbow Grease and Shinola

 P1010005

Ever get the hankerin’ to spruce up the old nest?

Sure you do!

Besides doing laundry all day yesterday and cleaning the house, I’ve been adding a few touches to the laundry room – which we remodeled last September.  Over time I have found some antique school chalkboard slates, 1920’s black and white school photos, wood shoe molds, more galvanized scoops and the Shinola shoe polish tin.  Love the graphics on these old tins!

I will most likely tweak the vignette even more, but here is the end
result.

The yard long black and white military picture is from 1958 and it is the perfect size to sit up on the shelf.  The French Laundry sign (below) initially sat on the shelf, however I think I prefer the military photo better.

Housekeeping rooms, need I say more?

  8. The Queen of vignettes does it again:) What a fun place to do laundry. I have to do laundry in our dungeon and dream of one day having a lovely room to do the chore that I tend to put off until we are out of underwear...lol!! Very very cute my friend.

  12. I should get busy and do that. Some sprucing, I mean. As always, you've done a great job! It looks perfect. I don't have a laundry room but HOW I wish I did.

I'm so sorry if I scared you away with my story. I didn't mean to do that.

  13. I wouldn't mind doing laundry in your adorable laundry room. Love that military yard long. It looks like the Women's Army Corp and my mom was one of them during WWII! Mimi

  15. Hi Becky, thanks for stopping by to see me. I always like to see that little corner shelf in your washroom...nice chippy paint....love it! I have a corner shelf myself, and I need to find a corner to hang it :)
    Blessings friend

Did you read on my blog where my little Boston Terrier, Duke passed away. He was 14 and very tired :(
I miss him so much, but I realize it was for the best. He had to be carried outside and back in and I am in shape to do it,although I struggled trying my best to hang on to him as long as I could. My daughter came up and took him out for me one morning, and when my grandson came back later to bring him in,he was dead. There was some blood, and I believe now a snake may have bitten him. I just pray he didn't suffer before breathing his last. I asked God to take him so I wouldn't have to make the choice to have him put down, but I wanted him to go while sleeping snug in his bed. Either way I trust God...he knows best. Just wanted you to know because I know how much your pets mean to you.....I hope they are well and happy :)

  16. Sigh. Your laundry room is so charming, I could sit there and have my morning coffee! Our laundry is in the dark basement, AND the washing machine washed its last load on Saturday. I was saving for a new couch, but lucky me, I get to buy a new washer instead!

    Thanks for the tour, Becky!
