This, That and The Other & Thoughts About Pinterest

Hello! Just a little catching up to do here on the posts! P1010019d1

The past few weeks I’ve been rather busy preparing my spaces for a huge event that both shops that I sell at were participating in. The event was a “Boutique Crawl” - a fun “shopping day” for 100 women who are chauffeured around to several local towns and shop at some fun stores who participate in the event. Now that it is over, I can do some catching up – and attack some house chores as well. I am sure that many of you have been busy decorating your homes for spring and Easter. Nothing like making the home feel fresh and clean!

I have also made the decision to delete my Pinterest account. There are so many grey areas about copyright and infringements so I have just decided to keep it simple and not even have an account. I am not opposed to having you copy any of my pictures and save to your Pinterest boards. So feel free to do so. I won’t send out the cops to your house if you do so because that just wouldn’t be cool.

I loved my boards so much and had a lot of inspiration photos stored there, but the dealie is that I can always save a photo to my photo files rather than having a public board. Pretty simple.

I like simple.

To me, saving a picture is like dog-earring a page to a favorite photo in a magazine so that I can easily find it if I want to revisit it. As a means to avoid disrespecting any folks out there in the land o’internet, I just opted to personally not have an account.

What are your thoughts on Pinterest?

Goodness, spring is here! I found this cute little rabbit to springy-fy the shelf. He is quite the poser and sports a cute basket on his back with eggs. Love him!

And speaking of love him….My precious Duhgall had his 6th birthday the other day! I cannot believe that my Scottie Boy is already 6. Time sure flies! Happy Birthday, Doogie Boy!! He is catching a snooze here.

Duhgall gets all happy when there are presents to open. His whole body shakes in excitement. It is really sweet to watch him be so content and happy, even with just a bag of dog jerky and a stuffy with a squeaker. Life is good with presents.

So this sums it up for now. I am going to have a few giveaways in the not-so-distant future. A friend of mine makes the most awesome jewelry and wants to donate something fun for my blog readers. She is so sweet like that.

Till next time, Happy Spring everyone!

  1. Love your bunny and your pup! On Pinterest, a few months ago I read a blogger's post about copyright infringement. Since then, every single item I pin, I put in the comment section, "From so-and-so blog." That way I know I've pinned it to the blog permanent. Like you, I do love having a "dog-ear type link" to projects I love. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hugs ~ Mary

  3. Your dog is so gorgeous, and I understand your thoughts on Pinterest. I don't have an account and have never looked at it, but it sounds like it has fun aspects and useful aspects too.

  4. Your rabbits are adorable! I too closed down my Pinterest account, for the same reasons.

  5. I do not have a Pinterest account, but have found pictures from both of my blogs posted on Pinterest. My biggest concern is that somewhere on Pinterest it is stated that if your pictures are posted, they can own them and do whatever they want with them (and I think not even give you credit). Which doesn't exactly sound right to me. While I am very flattered that someone would like my pictures, it doesn't seem right that someone else can claim a picture somewhere down the road.

This was the latest posting I found concerning Pinterest.

  6. Happy Birthday to sweet Duhgall. Did he get his pirate bandanna for his birthday? So cute!

I think that I feel about Pinterest as you do. If I had not have had to link to Facebook, etc., I would have surely joined and been reluctant to give up the boards, but since I did, I never participated anyway. I certainly do love looking and I enjoy the extra traffic that comes my way from time to time.

  7. Happy belated birthday to Dughall!

I love Pinterest for the fact that I can click to go to site where the project or inspiration is. I have tons of pictures saved to my computer but cannot use them to give credit on my posts most of the time as I don't know where I got them from. I think Pinterest actually helps with others knowing the source - I know not all the time. Even some of my pictures that others have been pinned of my ideas don't link back to me but for the most part they do.

I can also spend less time and get more ideas -

  8. Pinterest, well I hate the name. how do you say it? And I can't figure out how to get on it. I havent' found any instructions out there that ask for a invitation which I have and nothing happens. I think it is not that great as a site. the images are great. I just wish I got it. Who decided on that weird name?

  9. Happy Birthday Doogie! You are one handsome arooo boy! Hope your fursister treats you well. As far as Pinterest.. I have to admit I will miss your pins but understand your position. I would love to have a blog and share my world and don't have the techie talent for this so repinning from those who "collect" the same things I do is very entertaining. I do not repin if there is a stated copyright issue (and hope those that I am following don't either)and if I knew how to post my own photos I would. Love seeing those scotties and quilts! Linda

  11. Happy birthday Doogs! I'm really struggling with the Pinterest issue, kind of hoping it will work itself out before I have to delete everything. I know, what a wimp, but I love my inspiration boards!

  13. Oh my Goodness I am so glad you are o.k. I e-mailed you to see
what happened to you, so you can
just scratch it. I love your bunny rabbit. Happy Birthday to Doogs!!!
He doesn't look a day over 3. It doesn't seem like it has been that long since you got him. Glad to have you back.

  17. happy birthday to your dog..dang he is cute!! Ours will only be 2 in May.

I love your Easter decorations, that bunny is really lovely.
I don't know if I'll even bother with any easter decor....because no one ever comes over here.
Part of putting out the fun things was for the grandkids to enjoy and touch when they'd come over.
    Sure do miss that.

Pinterest is confussing me. What's with all the hoopla about copyrights etc. I thought that was what pinterest was for, was to share??? If you want it so dang private...don't put it there.

    happy spring

  18. Lovely spring photos, and I agree with you about the Boards - too risky.

    Nothing is worth the risk.

  19. I'm debating about closing my Pinterest account too. The main reason I opened it was to save information for myself, not to share it. But everything you pin is publicly shared whether you want to or not.

My problem with saving things in photo files is storage. It takes a lot of storage space & really slows down my computer to store it all there. Do save it all on your computer? My husband wants me to use an online site to save things like this but I haven't found something I love as much Pinterest.

  20. I just recently started looking at Pinterest.
I,m not sure I fully understand I just like to look at stuff but would probably never post anything.
As always I love your blog and always enjoy stopping by.
We also have had alot of rain here in Okla.it's beginning to look loke SPRING !!

  21. Hi Becky! Happy Birthday to that handsome fuzzy face! :)
    Love your pretty snaps too.
Well, I'm beginning to feel like you, Becky, about Pinterest. I've already deleted many of my boards. I will continue to delete I think and just pin my own snaps if others are interested. Isn't it so sad? This has been so much fun and I had no idea we could really be sued over pinning a picture.
    Lord, help us!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  23. Happy Spring to you too!
Re Pinterest - I'm not on it, following it, doing it, pinning or in any other way having my time eaten up by it. Like you, I save a picture I like and find inspiring (like your red bedroom, which resides in my files, waiting for me to find a red and white quilt).

  24. Hi Becky!
I haven't wanted to take the time to do Pinterest boards... and some people already have such great ones I just enjoy looking at theirs!

Your Doogie and my Dazzle just turned 6! Her uncle, our other Afghan Hound will be 10 soon. How can it be?!?

  27. Ahhhh Pinterest! I do love it! But I never use those photos. They are still someone else's. I still try to only use my own images .... I just kind of use it as an idea board.

Happy big 6 to Mr. Doogs! Give him another big hug!

  28. Happy 6th Birthday to Duhgall! Bentley turned 6 this past December and I could not believe so much time had passed so quickly. Our little guys give us so much joy don't they? Don't know what I will do about Pinterest. It's been so much fun.

  29. Happy Birthday to your handsome Mr. Duhgall.
It sounds like you have been busy. That boutique crawl sounds like a lot of fun!
Your new bunny is adorable. I've been trying to find homes for my Easter bunnies today.
I never got involved with Pinterest as I feel I spend enough time on the computer with blogging. I knew if I got involved in that I might never get off my chair ;-). I have seen some of my photos on people's boards which was flattering, but I also saw my entire header on one and am not quite sure how I feel about that.
    Happy Spring to you, Becky.

  30. I love my Pinterest. I never had thought of it as harmful in any way. It never even occured to me that someone wouldn't be flattered to see their pictures pinned.

I have a lot of your pictures pinned. I think your style is beautiful and I have been a blog reader for a long time.

  31. The same concerns about pinterest have been giving me pause. My plans are to delete everything that is not originally mine. Maybe later take down the whole thing.

I just watched John Stossel's video on youtube about local, state and fed. government agencies bringing charges against ordinary citizens about nearly everything and it certainly makes me think about not making myself a target (like the copyright infringement).

Now, to ask your permission: I've been visiting your blog for a few years and I'd like to put you on my blogroll. Is that okay?

  32. Your Easter bunnies are so cute! And Happy Birthday to your sweet pooch. He is so cute! As for Pinterest, I deleted all photos that were not my own. I don't care if others pin them, but it's not worth the risk for me to pin other people's photos. Too bad though. I enjoyed the links to tutorials and tips. Following you via Linky Followers. Hope you'll follow back :)

  35. Happy Birthday to handsome Duhgall...what a guy!

Love your sweet Spring touches mixed in with all your other pretties. Still need to work on mine!

I have had the same feelings about Pinterest. I took all my personal boards off and now working on making personal files. I spent to much time there and feeling guilty some! Almost done and will be moving on. It is amazing how addicting it became for me.

Have a wonderful weekend Becky and send a little rain down this way!

  38. I completely agree with you about pinterest. I also feel that anyone could learn just a bit too much about someone this way..and just saving things privately avoids all that. Lastly, I agree with some that I need to actually cook, stitch, etc..rather than pin. Terry in Texas

  39. Your puppy is so darn cute and I bet he had a special day planned with goodies and special walk...
I didn't know that about Pinterest. I thought part of the whole thing there is to be able to save goodies you see and share with others the same as they were shared to you. hmmmmm....I think everyone there would be in trouble. I do like going to Pinterest for sure.

I hope you are having great weather and Easter is around the corner...spring has sprung...cute rabbit too..

    have a great day
