….with Mr. Janome. Poor guy, he has been tucked away for several months now. Stashed away, lid securely placed over his noggin, cords all wound up nice and neat next to him. Away in a dark corner he sits, awaiting a day that he can come out to spend time with me creating. I hope he has not forgotten me.
He is a loyal friend and very helpful in making sure my projects turn out nice and orderly…perfect little stitches, one in front of the other.
There are things in life that just pop up and take the lead in the importance line, but someday I hope…
…that things (like taking care of my mother’s estate) will ease up and time will be on my side to be able to sit down in front of Mr. Janome and spend some good quality TIME with him. I know that we need to MAKE time for things in life, but sewing is on the back burner when it comes to priorities. I admire those of you who are able to sew each day. I do believe that this is on my horizon…at least I am hopeful that it will be like this. That, along with having a sewing studio to retreat to. Now that would be a perfect place for Mr. Janome to hang around –and he wouldn’t have to wear his hard hat anymore!
Have a fun day with whatever you are doing! So, what ARE you doing? Do tell!
I'm not sewing much either, waiting for my shipment of fabric to come. Impatiently. Should be any day. Don't know who around you should have PKM fabric.. lots of online people will. Maybe I'll know more later. Miss you.xo
ReplyDeletePam, I cannot wait to get some of your fabric!! I will look online!
ReplyDeleteMiss you, too. We need to catch up - fer sure, fer sure! xxoo
I am not a sewer....but I have been sewing new curtains for my master bedroom. I just finished them today and I am making matching pillow shams for the bed. They should be done tomorrow, then I will post about it. I envy you, for your sewing talent! I have a fight with my sewing machine each time I use it -lol.
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing a lot lately to get ready for a craft show in October...but making just bags...I need to make something for our home...like table runner and such! All of your projects in the photos look wonderful...you are a talent!!
ReplyDeleteMy Janome is packed up these days too. He is my machine of choice for traveling, and I will be liberating him from his dark cupboard next week when I go on a quilting retreat!
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean. Those creative "productive" hours are a therapy of sorts. I had the day off today and spent it painting a little old child size cupboard and my stress is GONE. Until tomorrow morning, that is.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have time to get to your sewing soon and make more of your beautiful things!
I have a "New Home" sewing machine bought around 1983-4 before the name changed to Janone. At the time it was advertised as a 3rd generation "computerized" sewing machine. No big deal now but it sure was then. It's still humming along with no problems. I don't sew as much as I use to since I retired I've been into crocheting. You sew beautifully and I really enjoy looking at your creations.
ReplyDeleteI don't get much sewing done in spring, summer, or fall. I enjoy my yard and spend as much time as I can outside. As the weather here in Kansas starts getting nippy, I hope to blow the dust off of my buddy and sew, sew, sew.Looking forward to a short bus trip in Oct. to the Neb quilt festival and museum with my quilt guild.Always enjoy reading your blog Becky, take care.
ReplyDeleteThis is cute. You are such a talent. I am very jealous over here.
ReplyDeleteThat was funny!! Love bunting! Been making some myself. Adds such cuteness!!!

Thanks so much for coming by my new blog and wishing me well! I just added my second post today. I'm still new at this and learning as I go. My sister has been an enormous help though. Your blog is so cute! I look forward to following your blog as well.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could sew! I never learned how, sadly....
ReplyDeleteYour creations are adorable! :o)
ReplyDeleteThe sewing machine is a little bit quiet here as well, now that I am working {feverishly} to add crocheted items to my little etsy shop. :o)
I hope you are having a great beginning to your week. :o)
hugs. Trish
I feel your pain about not having time to sew! I have a Husqvarna Rose Embroidery/sewing machine! I can not get enough time to spend sewing. Lately because of the shortage of time, my creations have been altering things, boxes etc. I need a lot of time to sew,so I don't make mistakes, otherwise I get too frustrated!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteYou and Mr. Janome sure make beautiful things together!
Oh Becky Monday's are my house cleaning and washing day. Yuck!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather be sewing. I have some pillows cut out and I have some smocking to do. I also have two evening dresses to embellish with rinestones for my twin grand daughters for homecoming. All of the things you made are just beautiful. You do such a good job on everything. I can't wait until you and Mr. Janome get back together so we can see what you create. I love my Janome too.=D
I have not done much this summer at all.... The heat just zapped me good.. Cold front coming Wednesday and I am anxious to get back to my shop....... I know the path that you walk.... you are coming up behind me... I think of you every day...I pray for you when I think of you........ Anniversary for Mom is this Thursday.... My heart is already racing.......... Love you
ReplyDeleteHi Becky.. Loved your Fiona post yesterday.. why wouldn't I? And today with you lamenting about missing Mr Janome I got the bright idea that sometime, when things calm down for you, "Bernie"(my sewing machine) and Mr J and your Fiona and my Fiona should get together for a play date?
ReplyDeleteToday was a work day for me - all day long at the university for a volunteer fair. I need to make time during the weekends and evenings for the things I love to do, but the truth is that I am often so tired that nothing but a little reading and blogging get done.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, can't wait for you to have a date with Mr. Janome. Everything you make just makes my heart happy Becky. The colors, patterns, everything is just my cup of tea! Every time I see that beautiful vintage sheet quilt I think I need tomake one too. I have about three quilts in the works now, so I really need to finish those before I start another, but I could be gathering my fabrics.....:>)
ReplyDeleteBecky, this is just weird. I posted, not moments ago, about my mother's things and my new Janome with other stuff tossed in. Anyway, I know that it's important for you to create and do. I highly recommend it because it's cheaper than therapy and you'll feel so much more like tackling whatever needs your attention after. Sometimes a gal just needs a break!
ReplyDeleteYour buntings are just so darn cute! I hope you'll soon get some time with your machine -- I know how frustrating that can be. XOXO
ReplyDeletewhat am i doing today? admiring your lovely sewing and thinking how my own janome is a neglected little machine ...
ReplyDeleteit's always a pleasure to see your pretty handiwork. i'm sure you'll have a date night -- or even a meet-for-coffee with mr. j soon!
hugs

I would love to find the time to do some sewing but it seems that my free time is always so limited. I have been thinking of you and hope that each day gets a bit easier.
ReplyDeleteLots of love and hugs,
Susan and Bentley
My Mr. Bernie is feeling neglected as well! I have so many projects I need to work on. Plus things around the house. What to do, what to do!!
ReplyDeleteI actually did some sewing this past week with my 28 year old Bernina.... my faithful friend.
ReplyDeleteMade some banners for my granddaughters 1st birthday party. I bought the machine when my daughter was born and now I am sewing for HER daughters : )
This week I'm painting stuff....
when you have a moment stop by and see my painted suitcase!
Your sewing days will return...
~ Violet
I've just been reading over some of your past posts. I'm so sorry for the loss of you mom. Sorry to hear about your accident too, I'm glad you weren't hurt. I haven't been online much this summer, and I'm catching up with everyone now.
ReplyDeleteYou're a talented seamstress, I hope you can get back to sewing soon :)
Blessings,
Marcia
Hi Becky!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice meeting you today at the Antique place =) Love your blog...mine has lots of work to be done! Hope we'll see each other again...it's so nice to see all the wonderful people out there that share a love for "vintagey goodness"!
Jodi
It's kind of sad when real life gets in the way of blogging or sewing. Makes it that much better when we can get back to it I guess. Do love your projects. That bed organizer is so so cute. Mimi
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I have a quilt-to-be sitting in a neat pile in my closet. Maybe it will be this winter's project. I have not been painting in watercolors. Instead, I have been painting woodwork, reorganizing closets and getting through a bathroom/bedroom renovation.
ReplyDeleteThanks Becky for coming by and for your sweet comments. I will thank hubby for you! We just got a little water in the basement. some have lost much much more, so I can't complain. these quilts are gorgeous!!! I wish I could sew like that. What a wonderful heirloom!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie xo
I always find that I need to "be in the mood" to sew. Then, progress on any project is made quickly. There are two pillows on my sewing cabinet waiting for me. :)

I dusted the cobwebs off my Mr Janome last week and since then it's been a whirlwind of dates. Firstly making some curtains and bunting for the kitchen and then yesterday I made myself some vintage style bikinis, yes, swimwear. I never would have thought it possible but the lightening of inspiration struck.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find time for that date night, you are so talented my friend! And I completely understand about the estate stuff, we have been dealing with it for almost 4 years! I thought we would be done with one aspect of it on Tuesday of next week, when we were supposed to settle on my parent's house, but alas it won't happen now until November! It's always something! I hope you can get back to doing the things you love very soon!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
My Janome is feeling mighty neglected, too. Every evening I have good intentions but my follow through is just not there. The weather is cooling so hopefully my inspiration will return soon. Christmas is just around the corner! Yikes.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm new here~just wanted to say hi and mention some of ~thee best~ blogs have something sweet in their names:) Very nice bed organizer, great ticking!
ReplyDeleteBecky, I am ready to order right off those pics, and I'll tell you what I'd like. The pink flag banner and a crib-sized quilt made from vintage sheets. See what Mr. Janome can do about that, willya? Hehe!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Joni
PS: The girlie pennant will be perfect (colors are just right!) for my new little granddaughter's vintage nursery!!
I just love your beautiful blog, I try to look at it every day. I'm just getting started in blogging and would love to be included in your link. Thank you, Dorothy@hensrule
