…..which simply translates to little sheep in the cottage.
One of my favorite
estate sale finds is this gorgeous antique oil painting of a woman tending to her herd of sheep. The muted earthy colors and the simplicity of the painting caught my eye. Thankfully, I was one of the first people into the room where this piece sat atop a shelf – and with a price of $12.50. As I was in line to pay, a gentleman approached me and said that I got the best thing there – and the house was full of fabulous treasures.
Over time I have found other sheep related items and have made a little grouping of them on a shelf.
The Productive Sheep Husbandry book is full of wonderful pictures of different types of sheep and lambs.
This one is so sweet with the momma and her babies….
…and these fellas sure have a nice THICK coat of wool! Can you imagine sporting that hair-do in this heat?
Aren’t they some hot and handsome wooly buggers? I do believe that the top one is looking all coy with his sheepish…..

I'm glad you translated that...I was sitting here trying to figure it out. LOL. Love your sheep, Mary hasn't anything on you. Your painting was a terrific find. Hope you have a wonderful day.
What a lovely vignette. Your oil painting is indeed a beauty. I always enjoy your eye candy and lovely displays.
Love the things you found because I love sheep too. We have them in the field out front and I just love to sit and watch them! :D
I adore sheep, and collect them as well! What a great find, my friend! Have a lovely day!

We had several sheep as pets for years! My kids loved them. Such sweet animals:) LOVE the sheep painting! Score!!
You put together the nicest displays. The sheep painting is lovely ~ I can understand why you love it so.
Such a fun book...those sheep do indeed have a very thick coat of wool. I don't think even a dip in the pool would cool them off! : )
I just love my visits here Becky!
Very sweet post, Becky. I have a few sheepy things myself but I'd love to own that painting!
Hope you are enjoying your summer!!
XO,
Jane
Your collection makes for a wonderful vignette...the telling of a little story...or literally "the trailing of a little vine." Sweet painting!
sheep hv always bn my favs...little lambs @ easter are fun to look for in our thrift stores...sometime i get lucky...love your painting
From the mid 1800's to the early 1900's my ancestors owned the historic Golden Lamb in Lebanon, OH. Every year they had a lamb made to sell, I got many of them handed down to me and I bring them out at Christmas for my nativity. They remind me of yours.

They are so beguiling hiding behind those wooly faces. LOL
I always had a fantasy of raising sheep and selling the wool. They are such sweet creatures. I love your sheep painting. I never thought of collecting that for home accents... but I will be on the hunt now!
What a lucky find. I just love sheep things and rarely find them. Your vignette is beautiful.
You are the queen of vignettes, I always look forward to seeing them and hearing their story:)
O how I wish I could have that beautiful picture. We get 2 sheep every summer. They keep the tall grass down in our small pasture. We sell them again in the late fall. This year we have 2 black ones.
I have a little sheep collection...funny I planned to do a post on them tomorrow...love yours...they are sweet...blessings
You create the best vignettes. I love that painting. You know that I love anything sheep related, too, so I am lapping up this post!

What an adorable collection. I have been blessed to experience a new lamb falling asleep in my arms. It is a wonderful feeling.
That painting was a great find...you have knack for putting together the most wonderful displays!
So sweet! I love them.... I don't think I have any sheep! How is that possible?

That painting is wonderful. I would have grabbed that, too. What a steal. Love your other sheep, too. I bought a sheep figure today at an antique mall.
Ahhh it's so nice to be back visiting your blog again and to be greeted by such darling sheep too! My old computer crashed so I've been gone from bloggyland for a bit until the new one just arrived. Whew, you don't realize how much you use it until you don't have it ~ ha ha
Blessings,
Janeen
That painting would have been in my hands so fast! I love your sheep vignette...

I too, love sheep. So does God : ) ... and we are the sheep of His pasture. What a GOOD shepherd we have.

Love the sheep and the painting!
Very nice post!! Sheep are just amazing critters'. My husband can baaa pretty well, so when we travel in the Fredericksburg, TX. area (where sheep wander pretty freely on the farm roads), we look like the pied piper. He baaaas out the window and here they come....just talking up a storm to him. When we drive off (slowly of course) we often have a little troup follow us for a mile or so. Tooooo funny!!! Thank you for lending me a smile today!
