The scoop is this: my pile o’ fabrics is shrinking down. That is a good thing, I suppose. Like any cherished fabric, having the “stash” be reduced to scraps can be a tug on the ol’ heart strings. If you cannot relate to this, just compare the sentiment to having the very best meal served to you and, after enjoying bite after delicious bite, there remains one last fork full – one last bite and…no more delicious meal. All that is left are memories.
So how has the “stash” been used? Well, some went into making up pennant banners. Isn’t the cupcake fabric perfect for a birthday party?
The sweet girly flowers, plaids, polka dots and paisley were used in the pink banner. I am loving all of the color in the fabrics and decided to go out and buy some colorful flowers to put in my sap bucket.
Delphiniums, daisies, tulips, poppies, carnations and a little butterfly….
…and all from the dollar store. Yes, I said the dollar store. So, for about $15.00 I can have pops of color that will last and last. They go nicely with the little cherry shirt I made. I’ll share about that one and the pattern I used later this week.
Thank you to everyone who left comments on my finished projects post!! You are all so sweet! Creating with fabric is one of my passions and hobbies. It brings joy to my heart to make things that others enjoy. Thank you!
Totally sweet. Love that fabric! When I was little my Momma made my sister and I sunsuits out of seersucker. Wish I had one now!

I buy inexpensive flowers for around the house too. They can add such a brightness to the day just stuck in a corner of the room somewhere.

Those banners turned out so cute! Very festive and happy... like the flowers. I enjoyed going back over your last post also... I love your purses and pillows that you have made! I didn't remember seeing the dolls before... so sweet! Must be a self portrait kind of thing... but with a change of hair color!

Your banner is terrific! I'm going to attempt to copy it with my fabrics because my little banner gets lopsided every time we go by it. Your design would be the solution! Wonderful use of that fabric...so light and summery!

Becky~ Love your pennants,I really
ReplyDeletelove your seersucker. I think of
all the little sun dresses I have
made for my two girls when they
were little and my twin granddaughters. I have more fabric
than any fabric store. I love it
and I know I will use it all one
of these days. I sew all the time
so I know I will use all of it
eventually. RIGHT!!! Just don't
tell the hubby, he'll never know.
teehee!!!:O) I have 4 of those green scoops in my big cannister jars.
Love them.
Your photos are so beautiful and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the fabric stash dwindling down. Mine is headed in that direction as well.
It's time to restock for moral support.
hugs

ReplyDeleteYour new pennants are precious! I love all the beautiful fabrics. And those flowers from the Dollar Store and so pretty. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors in your banner fabric. Just like Rebecca said, it reminded me of the sunsuits I wore as a child. I've picked up flowers at the dollar store too. I was amazed at the selection they had.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Such happy and cheerful colors. I can see why you love them :)
ReplyDeleteI can identify completely! I love to sew and create and have amassed quite a collection of fabrics, trims, buttons, etc.
ReplyDeleteBut...every time I get ready to start a project, I cringe at having to cut up any of the wonderful fabrics in my stash. Is that an illness of some sort? LOL
Enjoyed your post!
Liz @ the Brambleberry Cottage
The banners are VERY sweet and I can't wait to see that "happy" blouse. All the pretty colors! And poppies ~ who could not love poppies? :)
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing and enjoy your day Miss Becky!!!
Good Morning Becky,
ReplyDeleteMy goodness busy girl!everything is perfectly lovely! I really want to make a banner. They look like such a fun project.
It was so cold this morning when we left of the bay area.I even have my office floor heater on this morning to keep warm.
Enjoy your day and Big Hugs,
Elizabeth
What a lovely splash of colour on a grey and overcast day here in the North west - thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about fabric stashes. I have a cabinet where I store fabrics for quilting and craft projects. I love to open to doors and see all the different prints folded up. When I use them for projects and the scraps become smaller and smaller, I put those scraps in boxes. I just treasure each one and the happy memories of creating quilts and projects. Now I am off to the dollar store to hunt for fabric too!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Beautiful fabrics & creations. You are incredibly talented.
ReplyDeleteOh lovely!!!! You are killing me with these fabrics. I want a peasant blouse.....problem is I have a peasant body that makes them look more like a tent. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers. So cheerful. I have some silk roses that I bought a Dollar Tree years ago. I still display them in my guest bath. Such fun to find special buys like this.

Lallee
