Like a kid in the candy store, I walk around with my eyes wide open, my pulse racing as I turn each corner in search for the perfect fabric. Rainbows of colors take me back to the hours I would spend looking through my Nanny's sewing boxes....
...and the sweetest paintings on the wall inspire my inner artist... ..but wait... I can hear the Willy Wonka Oompa Loompa's singing, "I've got another fabric for you!"
Bundles of fat quarters are displayed in a harmony of colors...
..and these yummy fat quarter selections are layered like a deliciously sweet treat ready to sink my teeth into. For some odd reason the story of "The Princess and The Pea" came to my mind after seeing this perfectly arranged stack of fabrics. To make matters worse for my pocket book, there are brand new Amy Butler fabrics...
..and these fabulous new prints that beg to be touched. I know you quilters know about having to touch the fabrics! It is all about the quality and the softness, isn't it?
Lovely quilts hang on the walls...
..made in all kinds of fabrics....some bold and geometric..
...and some made with my favorite vintage feed sack 30's inspired fabrics.....oh my!
Tossed pink roses on a buttery yellow fabric...
..and a kick your heals up rootin' tootin' cowboy boot quilt! After all, this is "Cowboy Country" in our parts.
Ahhh geez....I s'pose it's time to pay for my things and bid a farewell to all...but I'll be back - as our Governor would say!
Meet my sweet friend, Jennifer (on the left), and her mom, Francie! Jennifer owns a rather new quilt shop called Lady Bug Quilts. Jennifer opened Lady Bug quilts in the springtime and is filling up her new shop with wonderful fabrics, patterns and notions. There are classes you can sign up to take and, if interested, can be added to her mailing list. Every Tuesday there is a "special" offer which is a terrific discount on a store item.
Jennifer recently had a tote bag and apron contest, as I mentioned here. I entered two bags that I designed and this bag won first place for the best embellishments. The prize was a $50.00 gift certificate to Lady Bug!! Yes, I have already spent it!! But of course!! Thank you, Jennifer!!!
If you can, stop by and visit Jennifer! No doubt you will find something wonderful to take home!

ReplyDeleteOh, are you in Manteca? My aunt and uncle and some cousins and their families live there. If I get down that way again in the near future I definitely will stop by Lady Bug Quilts. I can just imagine what fun I could have there! Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us.

I know what you mean about the memories and touching fabric. When I quilt I am in my "happy place". I can see why your bag won! It's adorable. Thanks for the photo tour of the shop. It's the next best thing to being there... not to mention getting a preview of a shop that will go on the "gotta visit" list.
ReplyDeleteBoy, I sure wish I lived in your neck of the woods -- it looks like a fun little quilt shop!
ReplyDeleteYeah, a fun no place to shop!
ReplyDeleteI love fabric stores. I've always wanted to buy a jelly roll, not to sew, but just to look at. So many pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteWell of course you won! Your bags are the most beautiful I have ever seen:>) I just recently discovered quilt shops (where have I been!?) and I can't get enough. I could spend a long afternoon and a large fortune in one, and yes, I have tpo feel them all too:>)

Oompa Loompa's singing, "I've got another fabric for you!"
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!!!!! This really had me laughing. I have to remember that but then again how will I forget it since it is playing over and over in my head now. And it is time for bed. Who knows what I will be dreaming now. :) You have really been bitten. It is hopeless! You will have to go regularly to the quilt shop to feed your addiction of fondling fabrics. :)
Hugs ~
Heidi
Makes me wanna start quilting!

Oh, Miss Becky! I had no doubt you would win. Before Jennifer opened her store, we had another quilt store in town. I used to go into it on my lunch hour just so I could "pet the fabric". Something about the softness and the colors and all the ideas buzzing in my head. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteYes, Jennifer's store is great, but even more, Jennifer is so nice and welcoming and helpful. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon.
Toodles.
What an adorable shop with so much eye candy to enjoy. Totally in love with the cowboy boot quilt!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky, Be still my heart! I finally found a blog that features an unbelieveable store in MY state and near MY home. Manteca is just a hop, skip and a jump. I haven't quilted in a long time but still remember the "feeling". I will definitely be making a visit soon. I'll be sure and tell Jennifer I saw her on your blog. NOW, I am going to visit your Etsy site!
ReplyDeleteThanks~
I love the painting on the wall. Next time I'm stopping in at that shop on our way thru to SF. And that may be in a few weeks. WOOHOOO Thanks for sharing. I loved that 30's quilt.
