Biscotti, Scotties and Merry Christmas Wishes!

Mom, will you please notice me? I am so cute and just got groomed! Put the cookie dough away!
Doogs and Socks are resting after helping in the kitchen...
Time to sit back and enjoy a minute of my day. There are still leaves on our Japanese Maple tree...so pretty...the view from my desk.

I love the light that comes in the windows in the morning. So peaceful. This used to be my sewing table, however I moved the machine to another room to clear the clutter out. This is a quiet spot to sit and look through magazines, write a card or just sit and stare out the window.
A new lamp...made of plastic, but it looks just like mercury glass.
A little bird's nest filled with some favorite ornaments.
An old bronze baby shoe hangs on the tree.
Doogs' baby picture and some favorite scotty objects.

A snippet of our front porch..
My favorite old red door that is adorned with a Christmas wreath.
A red flower box filled with pinecones and a vintage like sign.
No snow here...just wishful thinking...

Each year I make biscotti cookies for friends and family. This batch are dipped in chocolate and peppermint.
Finely chopped peppermint pieces for the biscotti.
My favorite zippy-do-wow presto chopper gizmo. It contains the bits, too.
See...?? Percectly chopped and quick, too!

Earlier this year, Lisa sent me a sweet Scotty cookie cutter. I used it to make my little Duhgall sugar cookies. Thanks again Lisa! I love it!
Plain little cookies... waiting for the frosting..
These are the hearts that I used on the cookies...too cute!
I tried to make black frosting, but this is the closest I could get to.
These little cookies look like Jenn and Jacqui's Hamish and Miss Penelope and Melissa's Winston! We love Westie's, too!

Mr. Santa keeps me company in the kitchen. The flour and sugar canisters are pretty low from all of the cookie baking that has gone on in our kitchen.
This framed Scotty picture is from my longtime friend, Barbara. She gave it to me the other day and I just adore it. Made in England and it has the coolest thistle design around the edge!
This adorable metal tray is a gift from my friends Jeannie and Karen, who have a sweet space at Remember When antique store in town. They gave this to me the other day and I just love it! Brenda, at Spare Minute Cottage, sent me the most adorable pair of scotty socks! They are in the wash right now cause I had to wear them right away! I love them and thank you Brenda!!!
And Miss Heidi, thank you so much for the adorable Dutch Christmas card with none other than a little adorable Scotty! I will also put the sweetest Christmas fabric to use, too! Heather, I love the bookmark that you made! My goal is to start reading a few books after Christmas, so this will come in quite handy - oh and for my magazines, too! Thank you everyone for all of your kindess. You really warm my heart!

I know that everyone is so busy trying to get the last minute Holiday things done, but I just want to wish you a very Merry Christmas! Each and every one of you is appreciated and I thank you for your friendship and kindness that you have bestowed to me these past few months. We all get so busy, and I am so guilty of not getting back to each of you lately. After the holidays, I will make it around to visit and to catch up on some visiting. This past week has been so busy with physical therapy appointments, grooming appointments (Doogs and myself), cookie baking, gift wrapping and visits to friends. But, you have been on my mind and I pray that everyone is safe, feeling good and enjoying this time with your friends and family.

I pray for everyone in our military, too, and thank you for serving our Country! It is so difficult having our loved ones so far away at such a time when our families should be together to celebrate the season. Just know that you are in our hearts and we appreciate your sacrifices!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Just wanted to thank you for this beautiful tour of your home. I love that you have a baby picture of Doog's on your desk, a light up Santa to keep you company in your kitchen, and the fact that you put little red hearts on your scottie dog cookies. You are precious to me beyond words.

  5. Merry Christmas dear friend! I don't know what is cuter--Doogs and Socks snuggling or your Scottie Christmas cookies--adorable. I love all your Scottie delights.

Every year I say I'm going to try making Biscotti. I've been making Cranberry Almond Bark and Peppermint Bark for Christmas presents. Never did get any baking done.

Have a very blessed day tomorrow, and I'm remembering our troops also.

    XOXO,

The music brought tears to my eyes, it is so powerfull and uplifting, all I have heard today in our town centre car horns tooting and the odd carole singer, and I live in the heart of Scotland, no bagpipes today!!disgraceful..but just wit till Hogmany, whooooppeee, no stopping them then, out in full force.
Duhgall, well what can i say that hasn't already been said, he is adorable, give him a big cuddle from me please, tell him it's from his homeland!!!and my heart.
Can I hae a cookie please? they look scrummy, as does your house, always a pleasure to look at your photos..did I spy a little Beatrix Potter book on Peter Rabbit?..lol
we were nthe pet store today stocking up on ..spoil me mummy!!!thingd for my two Yorkshire Terriers, when i had a glance over at the pen for the rabbits, well ihave never seen anything like it in my life, a GIANT bunny who I may add was the double of Peter in the book..i was just blown away at the size of it, I felt like Alice in Wonderland, well!!not quite but it was BIG...
Well Becky I shall go now and prepare my kitchen for the upcoming orginised chaos that will hit it soon, so all the best, and oche aye the noo, slanjeva, cheers, Kath..xxx

  19. Merry Christmas Doogs! Mom just showed me your pictures on Becky's blog. I love to see other dogs on the internet and have become friends with a couple of other nice pups via e-mail. Oh excuse my poor manners, I should properly introduce myself. I am Crockett a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and live with a little Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Shelby. Mom doesn't have a blog, but here is a link to our picture........http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1464596&uid=751651 You and Socks look so cozy comfy curled up together for a nap. We used to have a couple of kittys, but they got real real old and went to kitty heaven. I'm gonna have Mom show me your picture when your Mom posts some new ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Socks.......oh yeah, and to your people too.

  31. Hello dear Becky! It has been so long since I stopped by for a visit it seems. My regular visits on blogs had to fall away with all the bustle of getting ready for Christmas. And then it was over... How sad that is! I had a really down day last Friday when I was suddenly alone and my party was over, all my cards and presents made and sent and Jos had gone to work. I used that feeling to throw myself into a new little quilt which I will share very soon on the blog. Like I needed to start a new one? :)

I love the Scotty dog cookies so please make a pot of tea as I am on my way to enjoy them while having a fun chat with you and Doogs! :) Don't you love biscotti? I have an almond biscotti recipe I make that is actually from Sweden from when we lived there. My but that was a long time ago. These look so good as I love mint and chocolate. Yum!

I love thitles! I always stop and take photos of them. Silly huh? I have one stitched in my bedroom.

I knew the moment I was pulling fabric to send to my stitching friends that I had to send you that piece as it sang out to me "I am going to be one of Becky's beautiful totes!" Seriously, it did! :) I bought the cards last year as I just loved them the moment I saw them. I now think it was just for you who I met in the course of that year. I just bought my cards for next year too. I am back to tradition but you will have to wait until next year to see...

Thank you soooooo much for my surprise in my Christmas card! I just adore it as I adore acorns and will be working on it very soon. It is going to look perfect year round at Cranberry Cottage!

It is so nice to visit blogs after being away for a longer stay at Cranberry Cottage. I put some photos of the cottage on my CTS blog now too so you can come visit me there. I will make you a cup of real Dutch hot cocoa with whipped cream topping.

    Hugs ~
    Heidi

P.S. ~ Hi Doogs! You are just too cute for words and I love how you are sweetly sleeping with Socks.
