A favorite decorating style of mine is to layer things onto a silver tray. In my kitchen you will find two silver trays ( purchased for under 10.00 each), both of which have other thrift store and flea market finds layered on them. Old ironstone, glass canisters and a silver plated creamer stuffed with wonderful old silver utensils looks at home resting on the trays. For some added glimmer, I added two vintage etched against the backsplash. The tone on tone style really speaks to me and I would love to do the whole house in just shades of white with silver and black accents. But, for now, the kitchen is the canvas for my passion.
Just gorgeous Becky! This look is WONDERFUL for a kitchen - I just love it and I really appreciate your flair and skill in decorating - you have a real gift!! Is there a book in the works...? Seriously, you should consider it if you haven't... (BTW, your photos are wonderful too - great compositions)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend if I don't talk to you before - take care!
Blessings,
Becky S.
I really love what you have done....how elegant....be still my heart :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice Becky! Now I can really tell you are in California. My sister and I both received a silver tea set from my parents years ago. I got so frustrated that I got rid of mine. My sister's looked great while she lived in Arizona but also went yucky when she moved east to Maryland. Holland is just too damp for silver and has to be polished every couple of days to keep it any kind of normal.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a large kitchen? It seems you have alot of counter space.

Yes, yes, yes!! (Do I sound like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally????)
ReplyDeleteI love the silver and white things :) Do you entertain some? I'll bet your parties are nice.
Very pretty, I really love that look and the color combination. I have some old silver too, maybe I need to dig it out for the holidays:>)
ReplyDeleteOh Becky...I love the silver & white! So pretty together...
ReplyDeleteBut everything you do is so, so wonderful!
Priscilla
My silver is locked away in boxes. What in the world am I saving it for? I think maybe it should make an appearance soon. What a beautiful way to add some sparkle to the kitchen.
ReplyDeletethis is a wonderful vignette...i love using my silver everyday...but i don't have ironstone...just blue and white...may try to layer tho...good idea...blessings, rebecca
ReplyDeleteBecky: Love the look of silver and white. The layering look is also quite nice...quite elegant!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures! You could be a photographer for a magazine. I keep saying that I'm going to do our downstairs sleeping porch with shades of white but the kids are in there all the time so maybe it'll have to wait a bit. - Blessings... Polly
ReplyDeleteOOOH- we love this look- such elegant flair with humble things! We must go yard saling with you to find some fabulous $10.00 trays!!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
kari & kijsa
Becky, these pictures are too pretty for words. The mix of silver and ironstone speaks to me. I have a couple of silver trays from Goodwill and love using them with my depression glass. Linda
ReplyDeleteI love the look. I've decorated kitchen and dining room with that same look. It has such a calm feeling. I really like mixing a small touch of dark chocolate brown velvet ribbon...just a touch here and there. Love love old silverware the detail was so delicate back then.
ReplyDeleteKathy
I love the look of white and silver. Reminds me of the beach and I'm not really sure why. But with 3 dirty boys in the house, that ain't happening here for a long long time.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Julie
This is wonderful! I love old tarnished silver and you can find these trays easily. It all looks beautful and elegant.

ReplyDeleteBecky you have such good ideas-the silver trays are fab!! You did make me laugh-I definitely don't mix coke with my wine! I was drinking red wine and later on I switched to 'Tia Maria and coke'-you do mix those two together lol!!xx

ReplyDeleteGotta' love At Last by Ella Fitzgerald! A wonderful song.
It all looks so lovely Becky! Quite elegant and put together.
ReplyDeleteDo you like to polish silver, or do you put something on to keep it from tarnishing. I love the look, but polishing is not my most favorite chore!

These are really beautiful photographs. I love the cross stitch project in the earlier post too. I have a cross stitch project that I started 8 years ago, still haven't finished. Yikes. I'll have to pull that out and start working on it again.

ReplyDeleteI think I will go clean some silver that I have! Have a blessed weekend
